Creative Gravity

I get it. I totally get it. I just wish that writing would have that creative gravity towards me...I'm sure it will soon. I want to start my writing again. But I don't have the pull yet.

I think that gravity in a story is the effect of well written prose. If written properly, a book should actively resist being put down. At least, in my experience. Heinlein is a classic example. I've found a structure in a lot of books that do that to me where the resolution of a situation and the set-up for the next situation both occur in the middle of chapters, so that the action can be broken by the chapter change. Might be a cheap trick, but it sure keeps Me reading!
