The first thing Paladin noticed when he walked in was a very pungent aroma--not unpleasant, but sharp, aggressive. "What are you cooking?" he called out to the kitchen as he unwound his scarf.

He'd worn a scarf, but no jacket...it was in odd ways that the impending end of Edensphere apparent wore on him. If asked, he would certainly say he'd not given up hope, and he didn't believe they were all going to die--but his perspective was a bit altered. Suddenly, staying warm to avert a possible cold didn't seem all that important, nor did spending money...it was all suddenly frivolous.

But time with people like Krile--that was really important.

"It's curry! Vegetable curry," Krile said, smiling brightly at the sight of Paladin's bright white hair. "I hope it's going to be curry." She'd eaten curry before, of course, and it did always look a bit of a mess despite how delicious it tasted, but that didn't help her feel more secure about actually cooking it. What if it was the wrong kind of mess?

She gave it a stir, figuring that she couldn't go wrong with that, and set it down over the pan. "It's supposed to take about ten minutes to cook." With that said, she stepped quickly out from behind the counter to give Paladin a hug. It did look odd to see him with a scarf and no jacket, but she had a long way to go before she could poke him to take care of himself... depending on how much time they had left here. "Hey there."

"Ah," Paladin said, looking into the kitchen and at the colorful contents of the pan. He was slightly familiar with curry--meat and vegetables in sauce over rice, with vibrant colors and even more vibrant aromas, and names he couldn't pronounce, were at times on sale in the bazaar, but he had never tried it before now.

He returned the hug, absently noting that if Krile felt this warm then he really was chilly, but not caring all too much. "Hello. How are you, asides from cooking?"

"I'm all right." Krile let go and grinned up at him. "Feeling less like I had three holes poked in me by some miserable little magic-eating monster. And... thanks for looking after me while I was laid up. I would have been pretty lonely without you there."

She glanced back at the pan as something in there spat, but it didn't look like anything was other than it should be. (At least, as far as she could tell.) "And how are you? Are you holding up okay with everything that's going on?"
