He was trying to find Spring's favorite food when it struck Gai that he... really didn't know what it was. And it was entirely possible that Spring didn't know. He decided to pick up a few different things and see what went over well, avoiding the pepers as much as he could for Bell's sake. Sometimes Bell really was too picky.

A few gathered fruits, vegetables, and spices later, Gai turned and started to head back home before spotting Fred in the crowds. "Fred!" She didn't turn, and he shrugged it off. It was noisy. "Fred!" Still no response, and so Gai went over to her and put a hand on her shoulder. "Hello! What are you here looking for? Can I help you? I have already found what I was looking for, though Bell will not let me cook any of them I am sure."

Storm didn't notice at all when someone called out the name 'Fred'; many people were calling, and it wasn't a name with any particular significance to her. She thought she was doing quite well at maintaining her mental balance and calm through this trial.

But when someone put a hand on her shoulder and started speaking as though they were old friends, Storm couldn't help her reaction. She spun, ducking slightly so his hand slid off her shoulder, and backed away. Her face probably betrayed her surprise, and perhaps a little fear as well. She quickly ordered her face into neutrality again, but it had remained frozen long enough for this man to see it, most likely.

Well. She would just say that he had startled her, coming up so suddenly behind her without warning. It even had the advantage of being true. "Is there some way I may be of assistance to you?" Her voice came out rather cold and stiff, unintentionally so but perhaps it would encourage him to leave her alone.

Gai stared at her for a moment, rather surprised by the reaction. "...Fred? Are you all right?" Even when they'd both been new she hadn't pulled away from him like that. ...But speaking of new. Things often happened twice here. Twice or more. And Gai remembered losing his memory earlier this month. He tried to stay from being too enthusiastic. That could only scare her and he didn't want her fleeing.

"I would like to be of assistance to you. I am your friend and my name is Gai. If I am not missing my guess, you have forgotten things again. You helped me when I forgot as much earlier this month, and I would like to be there for you if I can. Would you like me to get you to your house and your dog, Aven? Or I can bring you to my house and you can again meet another two of your friends, my son and my partner. It is up to you."

Storm frowned, uncertain, as the man babbled. Well, it was true she had forgotten things... but how would he know that? Unless he truly had known her. She couldn't imagine how she had managed to befriend someone so... wildly enthusiastic.

"Fred?" As soon as she spoke the name, the faintest echo of familiarity rippled through her head. "Is that my name?" She hesitated. This fellow seemed harmless enough, and eager to give her the answers she desired--all at once, apparently, and before she asked the questions they belonged to.

She gave a brisk nod, after a moment. "Perhaps your house would be better. You can tell me more about Edensphere along the way."

"That is not your real name. It is the name you chose when you arrived here. Your real name, if you can hear it, is Romana." The last sentence was said quietly. He wasn't sure how many people had associated Fred with her evil twin and he'd rather not help more do so. "If you cannot hear that, it is fine. Most cannot hear their real name when they... restart." Given the fact that she wasn't wearing newborn clothes Gai figured that what hit him had hit her, and he would hope that in time she remembered things. She seemed a little shy, but at least she hadn't fled in fear or anything.

"Then it is this way to the Residential district! We will take an elevator up to it." Gai was about to tell her what an elevator was when he remembered that she came from a place more futuristic than him. She already knew. Covering up his awe and trying not to seem too much like a bumpkin, Gai continued on. "You have a book with you, a journal. When you write in it, or anyone writes in their own, everyone can see. I have a map of this place, too." He ( ... )
