Scrapyard, some afternoon, idk. serene_sunshine May 25 2011, 06:51:26 UTC
The scrapyard was always full of the most interesting things. Serenity could spend hours in there just exploring and digging around and picking things up and putting them together to see if they'd work better when she did. Sometimes it worked. Other times, not so much. But that was all part of the adventure. It was so easy to completely lose track of time down there, but that was okay most of the time because she was paid to do exactly that.

She had just taken a small break to empty her bag. That was always how she judged when break time should be- when her bag was so full of heavy foraged goods that it became difficult to cary. Now, she was back on the prowl and had just picked up something that looked like part of the workings of a small jet engine (plus some circuit boards and a few pieces that resembled mechanical rotor cuffs) when she heard some beeping and booping and sounds like piles of junk sliding down around the next bend ( ... )

He had found the most interesting place. It was like a huge scrap pile with seemingly no end, just full of broken odds and ends - not trash, not at all, just scrap. Unfortunately, being what it was, the terrain wasn't especially good for rolling around on treads. He was investigating something that looked like part of an old droid when he got stuck and his struggles only resulted in falling over onto his side.

He sighed. So, this was how it was going to be? He hadn't even figured out where he was and already he had landed himself in a scrap pile. Good job. He was just considering his options when his sensors picked up the unmistakeable sound of footsteps - it wasn't exactly possible for anyone to be quiet in all of this junk - and the heat signature of an organic lifeform, probably human from the looks of it. He whistled for help, hoping to attract his or her attention, if he hadn't already. Hopefully whoever it was wouldn't try to dismantle him - but if they did, he figured that was why he had a taser.

At first, Serenity wasn't sure if she was seeing things right or if her eyes were playing tricks on her. That definitely wasn't a trash golem, but it wasn't a person either. She approached with some caution, but was mostly just curious. It looked like a robot of some sort, but none like any she'd ever seen before. It reminded her of Logan, somewhat.

It trilled a whistle at her and she scooted closer, tilting herself sideways to get a better look at it. Seemed the little guy was upended, from the looks of things. "You doin' okay? Need some help there?" she asked. Maybe it was silly to talk to a robot, but she didn't think so. Machines could communicate, too, in their own way. "Lemme give you a hand."

Putting the pipe away, she held up her hands to show she wasn't hostile and crouched down next to Skywalker, hoisting him into an upright position and dusting him off with a grin.

"There you go, right as rain!"

Seeing the droid wander around was always an amusing sight. Mona often paused to watch him; she couldn't help but still be extremely curious. His name spoke in some way to her, but she couldn't place it, and since so many things spoke distantly, she wrote it off. He was pleasant to watch and to write with.

She'd just finished cleaning one of her assigned houses when he rolled past. "I do not warrant," now that word gave a negative feeling, but she'd track it down later, "a single beep as you go by, now? I could pick you up once more." The threat was idle. He was sentient and didn't deserve to be treated like a thing. Mona was fairly sure that he knew she didn't mean it by now, also. He wasn't stupid. "Or are you in some sort of rush?"

Thankfully, after several hours of wandering lost the previous night, someone had finally directed Veda towards housing - and from there, someone had showed him with unit was his. Apparently he had a dog, who, from the name tag, he had named Veda as well. Why continued to elude him - there was nothing familiar about this dog, and it did not appear particularly bright.

But he had it, and he knew that this meant responsibilities. Like walking the dog, which was what he was currently doing. Though it felt less like 'walking' and more like 'tugging the dog away from bothering other people.'
