The moment they stepped out of the elevator, Hawk knew he liked this Wilderness. The mere presence of an open sky was enough to lift one of the changing worlds on the third level a notch above Edensphere, but while their environs now weren't altogether familiar, they had a pleasant, welcoming air.

"It sounded promising, from the Adventurers' recounting, but I'll say it looks even better. Where to first, then?" He glanced at his companions. "Me, I'm glad for just the chance to stretch my legs. Edensphere started to feel a tad small again."

Conscious of the promise he had made to Gai, Huo was a little less light of heart than his companions. He had a purpose here, an end beyond exploring. Still, the sky was tall and the trees were green: there was a casual brightness to the place that he approved of. He smiled at them.

"Gai-jūn had recommended the view of the mountain, and seemed very excited at the prospect of the ramen stand." He chuckled at that last one. "But what I most wonder is whether this village has horses."

"I don't have a set destination, so we can do Huo's suggestion first. Then around noon, we can get lunch in that ramen stand." Stellaris had some bread in her backpack for emergency purpose, but trying out specialty dishes in a Wilderness stood on higher priority.

She turned her head to look at Huo. "Why horses?"

Hawk squinted against the sun to peer at the mountain face rising tall against the sky on the outskirts of the village. "Climbing that looks like a whole-day trek on its own. But I suppose we can take a shortcut, if you ask very kindly."

He never ventured very far from home without something edible tucked into his satchel, but here, he agreed with Stellaris: they might as well sample the local fare while it was here.

"Horses because we're looking to find some," he said lightly. "We'll have to keep our eyes open, but it should become clear in a moment. If they don't have those..." He hesitated. "Auto-somethings? Then they'll need something else to pull their carts."

"Automobiles," Huo completed with a laugh, though not at Hawk's expense but his own, remembering the challenge of navigating the roads of the big cities two months before. "We would have smelled them if there were a great many. But perhaps they have other things." The place looked ordinary, but there was no telling.

He followed Hawk's gaze up the mountain. "We could ask very kindly on our way up. A descent is kinder to travelers' feet and schedules."
