Kiba was actually taking a mid-morning break, with a mug of tea and some sesame seed balls. He'd wanted taiyaki, but the bakery was out. Whatever; these would do. Anything was better than slogging through the reports and files that covered his desk.

"Yeah, come in," he said, with his customary mild scowl. Shit, it figured, as soon as he got a break.

When Ilygian came in, Kiba's eyebrows raised a bit, and he gave the man a nod. He hadn't seen this guy before; another person looking for a job? Felt like they'd been getting a lot lately.

"Yo," he asked. "What do you need?"

Ilyigan stopped briefly at the doorway, assessing the man seated at the desk. Definitely not a boy: strange hair and all, he even looked seasoned, capable. A good start. Maybe there was hope for this prospect.

He considered a salute then decided that that would be reaching, and instead simply walked in, back straight and bearing attentive.

"Capitan Kiba, is it? My apologies for interrupting." He nodded at the tea mug. "I am called Ilyigan. I've come to try for employment - doma Brianna of the Watch seemed to think I'd suit you."

"Nah, it's fine," he said, waving a careless hand. Ilygian definitely had the bearing of a fighter; even before he'd become captain, that was something Kiba could spot.

"Yeah?" Kiba didn't really know Brianna, but he respected her as the Watch's second. "So what do you know about what we do?" Kiba had always had an extremely casual interview process; it could be mistaken for small talk to the less observant. He just didn't see the point in wasting time.

Kiba's casual bearing wasn't disagreeable, Ilyigan thought, an improvement really from the stiff Brianna. And of course it was vastly preferable to work under a man. He felt himself growing easier, as well.

He shrugged at the question. "I know that new places appear sometimes on the floor you call the Wilderness, and that it's your duty to scout ahead and report on them. More importantly, I know that these places are sometimes dangerous, and that fighting men are welcome in your ranks." Just what exactly they meant by dangerous, he didn't exactly know, but it sounded promising.
