Characters: Gai, (spandexisyouth), Rain (notpissedoff) Date/Time: Thursday, May 5th, starting just a few minutes before noon Location: The Park of Parkness Rating: PG, likely Summary: Gai forgets everything. Again.
Rain had eaten already, having just grabbed a quick lunch in the Bazaar, but as his next client wasn't scheduled until later in the afternoon, he still had quite some time before he had to be back at the Spa. As he often did when he had time to kill, he went for a walk, and today his feet had taken him in the direction of the park.
He spotted Gai from a short distance away, and forcibly quelled the impulse to just turn around and head back in the opposite direction. That would only make it obvious that he was being intentionally distant, which would probably just give Gai more incentive to 'encourage' him. Instead, Rain picked up his pace just a bit. He'd keep walking towards the man and, with any luck, right past him. Gai looked rather confused at that moment, after all, so perhaps he was occupied with other things and Rain could simply pass by unnoticed.
Spotting the other man, Gai took a half-step forward before stopping, wondering if he would be bothering the other. But he overcame his hesitation after a brief moment; he had to find out what was going on here. "Excuse me. I am sorry to bother you! But I think I am lost." More than lost. Much more. But it was a starting point. "If you have a moment? Or more than a moment. It may take more."
Though how did one go about asking all of the questions that he had, or even knowing if it was safe to? Perhaps the reactions of the other would help him figure it out.
...Well, that hadn't worked. But this was certainly new; not exactly the enthusiastic greeting Rain would have expected. He stopped and turned his head to look up at Gai over his shoulder, not bothering to mask his skepticism. The man wasn't lost; he'd been in Edensphere longer than Rain had. What game this might be, or what he might be hoping to accomplish with it, Rain had no idea.
"Lost." Rain's tone was flat; he clearly wasn't buying it. "If you want to talk to me, just talk to me. You don't need to make up a ridiculous excuse."
That was not a happy response. Did the other person know him and didn't like him, or was he just having a bad day? "I... am talking to you now? But it is not an excuse. I am sorry if you are busy. I just am not sure where I am."
There wasn't outright hostility, just suspicion. So someone who was vulnerable wasn't definitely at risk. It was still possible, though. "Except you said I could talk to you, so talking is fine? ...Do I know you? You seem like maybe you are personally annoyed."
Rain tilted his head slightly as Gai spoke, his expression shifting into just plain puzzlement. If this was an act, it was a good one. Gai didn't seem to recognize him at all, and he did seem genuinely confused. And what could he really hope to gain from pretending to be lost?
"...I'm not annoyed," Rain sighed, glancing away. Not so much now that it seemed like Gai wasn't fooling around, anyway. A thought occurred to him then, and he snapped his gaze back up to the man intently.

"You didn't just hatch out of a cocoon, did you?"
