Ben hadn't been able to get to sleep for a few nights. Fortunately, he had also discovered a meditative state that seemed to take sleep's place. It wasn't perfect, of course; the longer he resorted to it, it seemed that the more disconnected he felt from the physical world. It already seemed... more transient than usual. If the droids didn't remind him, he'd probably have started forgetting to eat again.

But it was better than just not sleeping. Ben couldn't afford to have his judgement impaired ( ... )

Of course one element Genius hadn't planned on was rain. It made scattering the rainbow sand a difficult, muddy process. It didn't help that Genius was no farmer. He was probably going to get blisters from holding the shovel the wrong way.

He was still in the process of scooping dirt to cover the sparkly sand when he heard the sound of a twig breaking. He froze. He was almost done covering the sand and after a second of hesitation he began to shovel furiously, flinging mud everywhere. His jeans were soaked, his tennis shoes were covered and the baseball cap he'd worn to keep the rain off his face fell across his eyes.

From here it looked like Genius was digging, burying something... this was, Ben knew, probably something he should leave well enough alone. His life would be simpler.

The simple life didn't work for him. Instead, he came closer, both hands in the pockets of his overcoat. Rain audibly tapped and dripped off it, off the hood he'd raised.

"Genius? What's going on?"

Of course it would be BEN that would find him here. His personal Jedi stalker. Who else would it be?

Genius shot Ben an annoyed look and nudged a rock over a sparkly patch of purple sand.

"Haven't you ever seen a man garden before? Really Benny, we gotta stop meeting like this. People are gonna talk!" As he spoke, he continued to shovel like a boss. He probably looked insane right now, flipping over mud in uneven patches in the rain.

...Good. Insane people were left alone, right? Safer this way.
