Hawkeye had been keeping herself to herself; her team in the Admin and Records department knew their Captain well enough to understand that her increasingly lengthy hours in the office were not to be questioned, and so after each morning's briefing and the evening's debriefing, she would sit at her desk in her office working through her records, resolutely not thinking about the people she had lost, and wondering just what, exactly, she was going to have to do to get out of this place ( ... )

And October, not having expected this at all, was taken completely by surprise. Down he went with a rather indignified noise, hitting his back on the floor, the sound of metal colliding with it ringing through the room.

"Augh, what the hell!? Stupid dog, get off of me--"

"Black Hayate, come here."

Target's voice left no room for disagreement, and the dog duly leapt from the boy and went trotting back to her, his tail wagging excitedly as he looked between both the fallen teen and his mistress as if to say 'look! Look who I found!' For a moment, after hearing the boy's indignant squawking, she paused briefly to wonder where she had heard his voice before. It tugged at something within her, familiar but... but... But from where? There was time for contemplating that later. Hawkeye shot Hayate a stern look and walked over to the boy, shaking her head at her dog's antics.

"I am so sorry, I have no idea what came over him, he's never behaved like that. Are you alright?" She extended her hand to help the boy up. "He usually knows better than to behave like that."

Without even looking up, October knew he'd heard that voice before. But he was having just as hard a time placing it. Maybe he'd heard it somewhere in the temporary housing...? Yeah, that had to be it.

His right hand was the one that extended to take the one offered. He hadn't found a way to cover it yet, so his sleeves still showed quite a bit of the metal beneath.

"It's alright, I'm fine." He shot the dog a glare - even the dog felt familiar, though. He must have seen it when he heard this woman's voice. "Wouldn't expect a normal greeting from a group like this anyway."
