Veda was a strange, strange man. He spoke strangely, showed almost no sign of gratitude or human warmth, or... well, anything really. Barry liked him. He liked him quite a lot, and still found it to be alarming that he was forced into a situation in which his eye was taken out. The very thought of it sent shivers down his spine--wait, no, that was a lie. The very thought of it made his eye hurt, and that was something he tried not to think about ( ... )

He had been absent from work in the past as a result of emotional turmoil--perhaps that was the case now. Lockon had been from the same world as Veda, Lyle, and Stellaris; the disappearance may have affected him. So 00 had made a thermos of hot chocolate and set off for his home.
She was somewhat surprised to see Barry there, staring at the door. Was he here for the same purpose? But discovering Veda's condition was more important than knowing Barry's motives. "Hello," was all she said before knocking on the door... and waiting...
00 had prepared for this eventuality. She took a key out of her pocket and unlocked the door, stepping inside. "Veda, this is 00," she called, to forestall an accidental shooting.

Or worse.
After that thought hit her on Sunday night, in the morning she wasted no time to head to Veda's place with some leftover cupcakes in tow, hoping he'd be in. From afar, she saw that his door was open and a man she didn't recognise was standing by.
No. Don't say he disappeared too...
Stellaris hastened her steps towards the door and greeted that man, rather apprehensively, "Ah, hello. Are you here to see this unit's resident?"

"00, wait, what if he's--"
He trailed off in the realization that it was too late and whatever Veda's thoughts on privacy were, they would have to wait. As he was about to take a step inside, he was stopped by a young woman with lavender hair (who he noted was very pretty, though now wasn't the time to be thinking about that).
"I-I--uh," he stammered, then gestured weakly at the cleaning equipment he wheeled behind him. "Housekeeping. And I wanted to see if Veda was all right, but 00 just--she just walked in."
He gave a one-shoulder shrug, and decided to walk behind 00, who looked as if she was a very young girl but apparently had the nerve of an old man. "Veda?" He stared into the darkness and saw what he assumed to be Veda's shape. "Veda, are you okay?"
