Trying his hardest to avoid the temptation to stop at the liquor stall and picking out something to quaff after dinner, he instead turned toward the food stalls for inspiration, the smell of chicken enticing him. Maybe stir fry would work...
He then saw a young man passing out what appeared to be fruit samples and casually walked toward him, hearing his stomach give a little growl at the thought.

He only vaguely remembered a mention of people getting strange side-effects from eating odd fruit over his journals, but this young man wouldn't purposely prepare and hand out fruit like that to people... would he?
"This one looks good," said Rick, choosing a large purple berry sprinkled with sugar. "Thanks, buddy."

"Oh!" He looked over in surprise. "Hello, Cloud-san! Would you like some fruit? They're quite good." He reached around in the basket, and pulled out a hard-shelled fruit, with a slight iridescent sheen to the outside, and offered it to Cloud. He was kind of curious what change the hair-color fruit would have on someone with white hair. He'd been half tempted to sneak it to Tian, but in the end, had decided it was not worth risking the dragon's ire. Cloud was a much safer victim, though.

As it was, he accepted it gingerly and inspected it closely, without trying to break the hard shell. "What is it?" That strange sheen to the surface of the fruit wasn't making him any less cautious... though he had come up here to get food. And he hadn't eaten in at least a day, though who knew how long he'd been asleep? He hadn't asked anyone. Either way, he was pretty hungry...

As a pterosaur she didn't really have anything in the way of facial expressions, but there was the sense, if anyone was close enough to pick up on her projections, of great concentration. She was on a mission.

He hadn't expected to find the strange lizard-bird-thing he'd seen soaring above the islands once or twice sitting there with a sheet full of fruit, though. He was pretty certain it was safe, though his last encounter with things that flew and had sharp bits had left him cautious. Hanging back just out of easy claw range, he waved to see if the creature noticed. "Hello."

As it was, she was so intent on her task that when he spoke she startled, enormous head coming up, neck curling into an S-shape like a wary heron, to stare down at him through both eyes over the tip of her beak.
Her claw range wasn't terribly far; though her limbs were long, they weren't particularly flexible, and her claws themselves were short and not all that sharp. Her beak range, now...
But, after a moment, she snorted, a sound made odd and resonant by the hollow cavity in her beak, and uncurled, head turning so that she saw him through only one eye. < Don't scare people like that. >
She glanced at what she was doing, and felt compelled to explain. < I am, > she said loftily, < experimenting. >

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to," he said sincerely. He took a step closer to look at the fruit-stained sheet. "Experimenting? How so?"

When she saw Daitou, she waved at him cheerfully. She was glad to see him back in his normal body again. It seemed to fit him much better.

Or to be an adorable little girl with pink pigtails who sells candy. But even candy isn't as awesome as fruit.
He really likes fruit.
So, of course as he was walking through the bizarre, he did give a lingering, slightly longing - but silent - glance to Daitou's basket as he wandered by.
