Roadbumps and Victims Oh MY! ichigwraaaaaaah February 16 2011, 00:21:48 UTC
Soon, the creature found itself drawn to an area where it could sense masses of souls all gathered in one place.

That made things easy.

The Hollow dropped the body of the large man who had rushed at it with a crowbar. A crowbar? Please.

It had taken no effort to snap his neck and toss him aside like a ragdoll. A weak soul like that was of next to no interest.

The spell of stunned silence seemed to break as the man's body dropped to the ground with a dull thud, and then panic set in.

Ben's other had no name. It was something he had mulled over again and again. It wasn't that he wanted to be nameless, but...

His ruminations were interrupted by a flicker in the Force. He could use it so much more effectively than Ben; was so much better at reading it, listening to its changes and interpreting them. And this... was interesting.

He closed his eyes and generated a doppelganger. It was a useful technique; forming a perfect copy of himself and inhabiting it, seeing through its eyes, using the Force through it. When his eyes opened, they opened at the end of a bridge, looking out at a scene of carnage. For the moment, he was undetected, and watched with interest.

It was satisfied to an extent with its hunting, but it wanted more. There were stronger souls to be devoured, more satisfying prey to hunt down.

The Hollow flicked the blood of its last victim from its claws and hissed.

The last week had been exasperating to say the least. When Lin felt a huge, dangerous reiatsu approaching fast, she didn't think twice about it-- she should have left, instead her own reiatsu flared up in response, inviting it to come closer. It was about time to prove Bastet she was a good fighter, despite how lately she'd done nothing but get on the woman's nerves, unintentionally. Her wishes had backfired in a way she would've never expected.

It felt like Toushi, and yet not quite. Whatever that thing was, Lin was determined to lead it someplace deserted, but didn't have the time for that, he was approaching too quickly. She didn't check too carefully-- nobody seemed to be around, so she stopped, taking a defensive stance. A few seconds, and it would have arrived.

It arrived in a blink of an eye.

Literally.

The Hollow sensed a markedly more powerful reiatsu than the other trifling signatures it had come across and it flickered and materialised near where Lin was standing. For a moment it stood there, watching her passively and sizing her up, eyes glowing in the half light.

Just because he was small didn't mean that he hadn't noticed that wild, burning, dark reiatsu that had flickered into life in the Sphere. It was familiar, disturbingly so, which of course meant that Crimson had had to investigate it, even if he was only five.

But he had at least managed to keep his reiatsu wrapped tightly around himself as he carefully followed the... thing, which just so happened to curiously share a similar feel with Toushi, around. It was hard at times, given how fast the monster could move and how slow he himself was, but over time, Crimson managed to pinpoint down a pattern to its movements, realizing that it was tracking down those with more powerful reiatsu. And when he had realized that Lin was nearby, he'd carefully taken himself closer to her, hiding himself in a nearby bush, ready to wait-- Except it was suddenly there, in front of Lin ( ... )

"Anywhere's find with me." Kazahana grinned and nudged Toushi with her elbow. "I'm not feeling especially picky."

She was in too good a mood for that. It was really nice to have all of them together-well, almost all. But hopefully Kiba could join them later if he finished faster.

There was something right about this, the four of them. Something that told her they'd been together this way before.

Kagerou had let herself be extracted from the bar, and stopped being sorry for it as soon as she'd stepped outside. Kazahana and Toushi alone were usually enough to lift her spirits, but the addition of a third, unexpected friend only made it better.

Yasutora Sado. It felt a little odd to know he didn't know his name, and probably couldn't hear it even if she spoke it aloud, but she held it close like a cherished secret. Someday, he could hear. It had happened to people before.

"Oh, didn't we already decide I don't get a vote?" she said, trying for breezy. "I think it's only fair we let the new person decide."

"Mm?"

Kind wasn't much for being dishonest with himself, particularly when it came to how much luckier than other newborns he'd been in terms of familiar faces; but he was a little surprised by how easy it was to be around Toushi, Kagerou and Kazahana so far. He still didn't know who they were to him, exactly, but he was content not to try to force anything, either. After joining up with the group, he spent the majority of his time observing things- getting to know them in kind of a roundabout, unobtrusive way that was fitting him very well.

Between keeping an eye on them and taking in anything in their surroundings that he hadn't gotten to see already, being referenced took him by surprise.

"...anything's fine."
