Grift didn't often smoke, but he did take it up as an occasional treat. It was bad for his health, certainly, but he figured that lung cancer was the least of his worries in this place. He blew out a plume of smoke, a foul expression on his face, and jerked his head up when he heard his name.

"Right here," he said dully, taking another drag of his cigarette.

"Smoking. A dirty habit, I have heard." There wasn't any judgement in Ambassador's tone. He wasn't one to speak about vices. He was just amused. "You are ready, yes? Or is there something that you must do? If not, myself, I am set. Today, it shall be interesting."

One way or another.

He blew smoke unfeelingly in Ambassador's direction and regarded the other man - the fat man, his mind corrected nastily, still sore over the fact that he was won by the damn tentacle-man rather than a lovely lady - with half lidded eyes, far different than his usual bright eyed expression. "That's what people say," he said dully, then dropped his cigarette and crushed it underfoot.

"Yes, I'm quite ready." He tilted his head. "For our date."

Grift stuffed his hands in his pockets. "Lead the way."

Oh, this was fantastic. Grift seemed very upset, especially if he was blowing smoke Ambassador's way. Honestly, Ambassador could be satisfied now. He was already having fun. But there was so much more that he could have, and far be it from him to miss out on an opportunity to indulge.

"And you, you are dressed so exquisitely for it." Ambassador gestured to emphasize 'exquisitely,' hand going up with forefinger and thumb touching. "I am most impressed that you have made such an effort."

"Of course I shall lead, my good date." He couldn't be too cruel, though. He wanted this to last, not to make Grift storm off. Ambassador lead the way to one of the eateries that also had drinks. It wasn't anything fancy; he didn't want to piss off the other man, but it wasn't trashy either. Ambassador had standards. "Let us have lunch now, yes?"

Grift tilted his head and then raised a hand loftily. "I dress exquisitely every day, Ambassador. I do not skimp on looking neat and tidy--even for you, I must say."

He followed Ambassador along the path. "Lunch it is. You're paying."
