It had been rather gratifying to surprise Crimson, even if she wasn't sure she appreciated him assuming the box held some sort of explosive--just because she hadn't thrown it at him didn't mean it might blow up.

But he'd paused upon being told that today was his birthday, and immediately asked when hers was. Upon finding out that it was the very next day, he'd set his gift aside, insisting on opening it later, after he'd run out to get her something.

While Bastet was a little bemused to be hustled back out of his apartment so quickly, she shrugged it off, and went back home to occupy herself until he showed up again. He knocked a few hours later, and she opened the door to find him carrying two birthday cakes.

"Oh, that one has to be mine," she grinned, reaching for the yellow cake as he entered.

"Ah, ah~" Crimson tutted as he moved the cake out of her reach. "It's not quite your birthday yet! You still have to wait--"

He looked over her head for the time as he set the cakes down on the table before fishing in his pockets for the candles and the gift she'd given him.

"Ten minutes. In the meantime, I get to be the birthday boy and open my present~!"

Bastet frowned, but didn't argue; she supposed she could wait ten minutes.

"Fine," she sighed, following him inside. She was about to perch on the edge of the couch as he placed the cakes on the coffee table, but then headed to the kitchen instead, for something to eat with.

"You just made it," she said as she headed back into the living room. "I didn't mean for you to spend your birthday running around."

"Maa~ We can't have birthdays without cakes! Besides," He winked at her, totally unaware of the fact that he still had a bit of frosting smudged on his nose. "This just means you'll have to make it up to me some other time~♥!"

She snickered. "Greedy, greedy," she sighed. "Always looking for a way to get something else out of me." She set down the things she'd gotten from the kitchen, then grabbed one of the paper towels.

"Here," she said, holding it out to him with a chuckle. "There's frosting on your nose."
