Reed had the grace to bite his tongue at Lix's remark, but he responded to the other statements with a thoughtful nod and a far-off, contemplative stare. "The thought causes stirrings in us all, it seems. We could do far worse than to investigate."

Though his smile turned a bit more humble in response to Krile's query. There were still stitches, but since when did any self-respecting soldier let something so minor slow him down? "Better enough for such a trip. I only feel it at a sprint."

"Even if it's not what I remember, it might still be important," Paladin said, stepping inside the swiftly-arriving elevator. He leaned against the back wall, entertaining an odd thought. "I sometimes wonder what it means," he said slowly, "that so many of us remember things that almost match, yet...not quite."

The drone of the elevator was long, and for a moment, Paladin wondered if they might be trapped in it--but just as the thought crossed his mind, the ding! of arrival sounded, and--what the elevator doors opened onto was indeed some manner of mechanical building. He did not recognize it--it was not the golden tower of gears from his memories--but there was definitely something about it...

Krile grinned at Bartz's blithe remark and Reed's reassurance as she stepped off the elevator, but drew in a sharp breath as she saw the form the Wilderness had taken. She stepped onto the blue-grey stone, looking around with wide eyes as the sense of familiarity hit her like a plank. Admittedly, it was a plank that didn't quite hit on target. Still... the sky all around, above and below, the gusting wind, the... oh. The monsters skulking around in the distant corners.

"Lix, this looks familiar, doesn't it?" she said, but she pushed down a sudden surge of anxiety as she looked up at him. What if it wasn't--what if he didn't remember what she did? But he'd been there in every memory. If this place was so striking to her, surely it had to be for him too... or at least a little bit.
