Dulled both by exhaustion and the loss of blood- and still half-awake from his trials in even getting to wellspring- he followed patiently along as he was aided inside, trailed by a saline drip bag piped into his arm; insistently ambulatory, though his gait was hindered by that obvious gash that ran from navel to ribs across the obliques, still staining a red streak across the bandages that encircled his abdomen. He grit his teeth and winced as he settled into bed, but his back hit the cushions with a heavy sigh once he was able to let his body settle ( ... )

Which was why when the other figure in the room lay down, Stoneface conceded to the burning in his sides and lay down as well. It hurt his pride somewhat, true, but he had been discovered by Bell lying prone with a half-naked Genius next to him. His pride couldn't go anywhere but up To his surprise, the voice he heard beside him was none other than Reed's. A pretty picture they both made, two watchmen stuck reclined in their hospital beds. "Oh," he said, blinking owlishly at Reed. "Hello Reed. I was wondering where you'd gotten to. And I'm guessing the same misery that befell you, which is to say ( ... )

The mere thought of those claws sent pain tearing through his side again. "One hit and I was all but felled. A lucky riposte drove her off in choking screams, but... were it not for Krile and Lix I doubt I'd have made it here."
"To add insult to my injuries, it would have been but a brief digress before my arrival at the barricade." A smile came onto his face, albeit a weak, tired one. "Though it seems you fared no better there."

He trailed off with a wan smile. "No, I had a feeling that she'd stay down here, even if she oughtn't."
"I didn't receive my injuries at the battlefield, actually. I went out to help a few people outside of the barricades along with Genius, and this great huge zombie came out of nowhere, and--"
He hesitated. "--and let's just say apparently one zombie's upchuck attracts more of 'em. After we fought off the horde, a zombie the size of a troll came running after us, and we had to lure him off the edge of the island to ensure that the barricades stayed intact."
He flexed one hand experimentally. "Those things were bloody monsters."

In the clinic, he was not surprised to find that Reed had a roommate, for space was limited. He was, however, surprised to hear Stoneface's voice coming out of the room as well. He had heard a few people talking about what had happened in the barricades with Stoneface, but he hadn't seen for himself. How interesting...He knocked on the door a few times, then entered. "Reed, Stoneface--I'm glad you are recovering."

There weren't many flowers to be had at this time of year, so Krile had brought fruit. Reed would appreciate it, she was sure, and Stoneface... well... it would be good for him and he needed to eat more fruit anyway. And when she'd asked a healer out front, she'd been told that both of them were in the same room.
She pushed down her nervousness and headed in, spotting Paladin going through the door too. "Hello!" she said brightly, and peered around him to Stoneface and--and Reed. "How are you two doing?"
