The bar, Wednesday night, Paladin and Juliet dancing, SPECTATORS/REACTIONS ENCOURAGED mythgravenblade November 11 2010, 03:06:36 UTC
Later, when he looked back on this, he would realize that even going to the bar was a mistake. But, damn it all, he needed that drink.

Maybe not all of the dancing had been bad. The pair of slower waltzes had been almost enjoyable. But, the majority of them... Well, he had been stopped by someone who thought he was having a seizure during. And it was all so exhausting, too.

The long and the short of it was that he'd had a long day, and so he now sat at the bar, nursing a vodka drink--when Juliet caught his eyes, looking like her day had been much the same. "Good evening," he said, then smiled wryly. "Long day?"

She was sipping brandy, and thinking over the day. This dancing...how she wished she could have been glossed over. The Sphere was determined to make her dance ridiculously, from motions that seemed like a clockwork doll to ballroom dancing in which she'd been tossed, with partners she wasn't thrilled to have. Thankfully, the one with the strangely catchy music and more energetic dancing had happened privately.

Paladin's eyes met hers, and she smiled in return. "You could say that, definitely. And you?"

He nodded. "The same." Paladin sipped his drink. "Even if it weren't horribly embarrassing...it's tiring, and thirsty work. But," and here he held out his glass intending to clink it against Juliet's, "at least there is the bar."

No sooner had the words left his mouth than low horns began to build in the background, and suddenly he was leaving his chair, moving with rhythm to the beat...

"Oh, damn."

[ooc: music here, for the curious.]

She nodded, and touched her glass to his as he spoke. However, before she could properly sip it again, the music began, and she began feeling that undeniable pull to get up and move her limbs.

Sighing, she drained the glass before she was forced into joining him in a dance, trying not to fight it as it was only more tiring.

"Well said."

Gene had more or less gotten used to insane changes in wardrobe the Sphere doled out. That said, it was still nice finally be free of all that spandex and studded leather ridiculousness he had been forced into earlier in the week. And don't even get him started on the killer boots.

Yes, the luxury of being in comfortable clothes combined with the fact that he had his gun at his hip left Gene in a pretty good mood. It felt like today actually might shape up to be normal.

Little did he know.

((ooc: Throw a character at him and feel free to pick a dance for them to do! Or I can choose the dance. Or one person can dance while the other laughs. Anything goes.]

Rukongai was off work and wandering, trying to see if he could figure out what was 'normal' for Edensphere. If he could get an idea of it, it would make things easier whenever stuff changed. He'd know it was different.

Obviously, swords-as-lollipops weren't normal. People dressed in funny costumes, for the most part, wasn't normal. And it looked like the whole 'markings' thing wasn't normal either. He'd have a baseline, eventually.

Seeing a guy dressed in something that made sense up ahead, Rukongai headed over to maybe meet them. That was when really odd music started playing. Boogie woogie woogie? Even worse, Rukongai was now moving with it. "...Tell me ya know how to stop this."

When asked by an unfamiliar voice how to stop something, Gene turned around to see what the man was talking about. The turn segued into an unintentional step forward. He could have dismissed it as a misstep if he didn't find himself immediately stepping back afterward. Then a pivot, then a sliiiiide. When he managed to tear his bewildered gaze away from his seemingly possessed feet, Gene saw that the other man was doing the same.

"Hell if I know. You started it," he said as his hands clapped together of their own volition.

Now they were both doing it, the same pattern. Side to side, back and forth... It was probably one of the most ridiculous things Rukongai had seen here, and he was part of it. The little kick was the icing on a strange-as-hell cake.

"Started it? Music played on its own. Now I'm movin'. Yer movin' too." It was an unneeded observation, but Rukongai needed something to say while they did the exact same silly moves. "This don't go fer days, right? How long ya been here, anyway?" It wasn't any help if he was talking to someone who had only been here as long as him, or possibly was even newer.

November 11th ; all day ; on patrol in residence/city without walls stonyfaced November 11 2010, 04:40:59 UTC
Stoneface couldn't have been more pleased when that dreadful tight outfit he was forced into vanished, leaving him in his regular loose clothing that had no purpose but to cover him up underneath his armour. He did have to get some new ones, he noted to himself, as his clothes had a tendency of getting a bit tatty if they were worn too often, and as a man who did not pay attention to most of his garments, they were most definitely that ( ... )

7 - 8 AM, section 3? feathered_earth November 11 2010, 05:09:08 UTC
Krile shivered and tugged at her coat a little. There was no mistaking that this was November--she shook her head at herself. A little cold did no harm! And it looked as though today would be fine and sunny. She whistled to herself a little as she set off for her Guard shift, wondering if anyone new would pop out of a cocoon this morning.

She grinned when she saw a familiar face. "Hey, Stone--" she stopped as her feet suddenly went backwards, then forwards, and then into a twirl as an invisible fiddler struck up a lively tune. It quite distracted her from the music that had started around Stoneface and his own dismayed expression. "What in tarnation?!"

Got it! stonyfaced November 11 2010, 19:05:29 UTC
Stoneface blanched when he saw Krile. Not because he didn't enjoy the girl's company - he did, and figured he ought to see her more often - but because he didn't particularly want her to see this. He didn't want anybody to see this. Dancing around like a fool was noit a good way to inspire confidence from the masses, which he didn't get very much of in the first place ( ... )

"Oh, now I don't think it's that bad!" said Krile as they spun around. The initial moment of shock had passed quite quickly at seeing Stoneface's horrified expression. There had been talk of dancing on the journals last night, now that she thought of it. Apparently it had skipped her until today.

She tilted her head a little as a male voice cheerfully called out instructions. "Say, do you know what an allemande is?" Her feet seemed to know already, taking her through the steps effortlessly. "I don't think I recognize that word from my barmy folk dance classes." The grin stayed firmly in place as Stoneface looked glumly at his feet. "But you sure seem good at this! Have you ever had lessons, mister?"

It wasn't the most effective way to patrol. Or really, to do much of anything. And yet at the same time, Gai was enjoying himself. Every twenty minutes or so the music would start, it would catch him up, and Gai would find himself waltzing with someone.

So far he hadn't been stuck ballroom dancing with anyone that would be awkward to dance with, but for all he knew, that could change. At least he seemed to be good at the styles.

Sometime early evening? grab_my_bells November 11 2010, 07:20:51 UTC
It was after work and Bell wandered out along Gai's usual patrol, looking for his partner. Today with all the dancing, had been very odd, but he was looking forward to getting Youth and going home and maybe taking a nice warm shower together before dinner. He just hoped Gai wasn't part of this dancing madness (voluntarily or not), or at least didn't take it to bed. Bell was looking forward to his usual blend of nice and relaxing, and not-so-relaxing, night.

He found Youth in a secluded area of Captain Planet, and slid in subtly beside him.

"Shift almost done?"

Sure! spandexisyouth November 11 2010, 07:44:40 UTC
Due to the dancing, his patrol was taking longer than it normally did. And Gai wasn't about to cut out on part of it just because of something new happening in the Sphere. The day he gave in with his standards because of a Sphere trick was the day he might as well be called Old or Winter or something like that.

Gai beamed at his partner's arrival. "I am getting there! It will take a little bit longer, I am sorry. I only have--" But before he could explain, the music he'd still not gotten used to started to swell, and Gai found himself holding one hand out to Bell while his feet were already moving.

"I am stuck dancing. If you dance with me, it may pass sooner. And I will look less stupid." It would be an added bonus if Bell got caught in it too, though. Then he wouldn't have a choice about whether or not to be aloof; he would have to dance.

You have to be kidding me, Bell thought, looking at the extended hand and trying to avoid taking it. He did not want to dance. He didn't want to be a part of this madness. It was embarrassing and stupid and...

"Ah, as thrilling as this sounds, I think my dance-card's full."

He briefly glanced up the street. No one was around. Maybe he could indulge Gai this one time, out of interest in speeding this along, and then blame it on the event later. Bell had the odd feeling he had done worse in the name of rivalry or friendship or whatever before. A lot worse. Dancing was probably pretty low on the embarrassment scale, in all reality, and even though Bell didn't ever want to hear about this again so long as he lived, his hand closed around Gai's and he stepped into the turn Gai had begun.

Maybe the Tree was taking over. The steps came fluidly enough, even if Bell as aware it was awkward to dance with another man.

"Who's leading?"

Wednesday Morning azhdarchidae November 11 2010, 05:51:29 UTC
Above was flying over that four-lobed island... what was it called again? Stuff? when she heard piano notes.

She found herself braking, going more or less upright for a moment so that even the membrane between her legs hit air, killing her momentum and speed until she could touch down outside of the main cafeteria.

Above still hadn't perfected landing; she didn't hurt herself and anyone in the way got out of the way in time, but her neck and head lurched downwards as she touched down, and the outsized journal she'd been carrying fell out of her beak.

< What the - > she started to say, and then found herself rearing up on to two feet and shuffling on them, her long neck starting to bob and curl. A voice joined the notes.

Well I heard about the fella you've been dancing with...
