He was bored, he decided. When he'd woken he'd seen no reason to hurry to leave - wherever he was. Whatever the liquid he was in was, he could breathe in it. It wasn't like it was uncomfortable here and there didn't seem to be anywhere he needed to be in a hurry. And that dream, whatever it was it had been nice enough. So he'd tried to get to sleep again.

But he found himself unable to and boredom and curiosity quickly overtook him. Almost experimentally, he pushed against the walls of whatever this place was. It gave easily enough and with a little more force he managed to break a small hole in the cocoon. The liquid started to pour away through it and it was only after a few seconds' panic that he remembered that he could probably also breathe the air. Curious about whatever was beyond the broken wall, he stuck his head through the hole and looked around.

Well, he found the hatching cocoon, all right.

In fact, he almost stepped into the person--man, it looked to be--sticking his head out. "--Hello," he said, after a moment to get over the surprise--simply for lack of anything to say...oh. Oh, since the greeter wasn't here, he should probably start the whole introduction.

"Um...Welcome to Edensphere." How was it he could hear the greeters give a fairly standard speech to newborns dozens of times, and yet not remember it when he needed it? "Um--oh! Just a moment," Paladin said, hoping he didn't sound as unsure as he felt as he walked around the newborn's head for the table with the newborn bundles. "You'll be wanting a towel."

"A towel?" He repeated, a little confused. He hadn't thought about needing a towel until now. And then it clicked. "Oh, right. You mean for this gunk stuff? That'd probably help."

He tried to follow the stranger with his head, it was usually polite to looks at people when talking to them, but he could only really move so much. He paused, trying to pull his head back. Stuck. Figured. After a little thought, she started tearing away at the cocoon walls around his neck to allow for more freedom.

"So is it okay if I come out of this thing? It's kinda all dark and - I dunno, gunk-y? - in here."

"Oh--absolutely, yes!" Paladin said, glancing back and mentally kicking himself for not saying something to that effect earlier. "In fact--usually, the cocoons just crumble on their own, I don't think I've seen one stay together for so long."

Bundle in hand and careful not to slip on the spilling goo (his balance was already compromised), he returned to the newborn. "I'm sorry, I've not--I don't do greeting, usually." He held out the towel, for when the man freed himself from the cocoon. "This is Edensphere. It is...it is a town, inside a giant tree, and, unless you are different from all us here, you probably remember very little."
