Besides, electronics stores were in abundance and people seemed very welcoming; certainly not the sort of greeting he'd ever expect as a robot. So when Locket suggested they do some private exploring on their day off, he could hardly refuse.
He finally returned to his companion with canned coffee bearing a mustachioed brand. okay. "So where to next? I hear that tower's a nice place to visit at night."

Locket gently swirled the cup in her hand, canting her head over Zero's selection. She'd seen a vending machine or two selling that particular brand. "I hear that one's pretty good, if a little sweet."

Zero concerned himself more with their next destination... and her words were sensible. He of all people wasn't one for crowds. "That in the region you were assigned, right? I may as well take a look at it."
"Lead the way. But let's walk this time. I've had enough of that subway."

And onward they walked. The sound of advertisements, chatter, and the occasional small vehicle filled the air, the sound of leg pistons a steady rhythm. For that while, Locket had nothing to say... nothing that would come out right. She had to tell him. It was only fair.
The bridge. It was quiet enough. That was why she suggested it, right?
"That was an unfortunate set of matches earlier. All that practice at home with Bridge and I'm still wiping you out in the arcade," she suddenly said, casual as possible. A smile grew.

Besides, she kept doing that uppercut thing. He hated that.
Nonetheless that topic, too, soon came to pass; it was a while of walking along lamp-lit streets in the dim, cool evening before they neared their destination, and longer still before the crowds began thinning. They'd arrived just in time to see the last rays of daylight fade from the night sky; and now, with the dull rumble of cars and trains to keep them company, he leaned against the railing, peering into the shadowy water below.
"Guess they haven't lit it up yet."
