All the advice I shunned, and I ran

Characters: Apple (crowsloveapples) and Kurayami (paintitgray)
Date/Time: June 30th (backdated)
Location: The upper branches of the Tree.
Rating: PG? Might get messy.
Summary: The trouble with a flying apprentice like Kurayami...is that you never know when she might decide to try and play Icarus.

------

If someone had told Kurayami, two weeks before, that she would be spending a beautiful sunny afternoon doing lazy loop-the-loops around the branches of the Tree, it might even have coaxed a laugh from her. Instead, she was smiling gently, ear to ear, as she coasted gently on the warm rising air currents from the sun-baked bark of the Tree. Wings outspread, she circled and watched the dots of color here and there among the leaves that meant people, strolling far below.

So this was what it was like to be a crow, minus the scavenging and the raucous calls. Kurayami rolled in the air, briefly folding her wings to feel the sunshine on her upturned face, then snapping them out again to catch the wind.

Apple was right; there was an instinct to it, if you let yourself go, that seemed to come from the glowing center of warmth within her. He said it was what made her a +Anima. She wasn't sure what to think of it, but...this far up in the air, thinking was hardly necessary, and she couldn't help enjoying the rest for her mind and heart.

Speaking of Apple, where was her little teacher? Kurayami scanned the green leaves and open air around her, searching in all directions. (It had been interesting, to learn to think in three full dimensions of movement, but she thought she was getting the hang of it.)

"Apple?" she called. He had to be here somewhere. She chuckled--was he planning something tricky, or just wandering off?

haibane renmei: reki (kurayami), plus anima: cooro (apple)
