He suddenly whirled about, his eyes focusing on a particularly large mound of scrap metal as he heard a much louder rumbling somewhere within the pile... a pile that suddenly sunk back down beneath the floor, melting and splattering into a disorganized sheet of clattering, rolling debris. And the low, groaning rumble beneath his feet- one that felt like it was still moving across the room- only seemed to become louder and closer. Zero's hand went to his waist, his fingers tightening around his hilt... but he was greeted only with painful, dead

He spoke nothing but ill of the place.
...So why on earth did he come back!?
Sadly, Locket thought with a shake of her head when she pressed the button for the third floor. This behavior, too, feels familiar.
Her plan was simple: Exit the elevator, grab him, and try her best to keep a stern face when she scolded him for coming back down here. There was no doubt in her mind anymore... Light was gone. Edensphere gave her two familiar friends, and then took one away. As much as it pained her to think of it, that's just how this place was. Aerial enemies! Her sensors cried in alarm, and she just ducked a swooping... pterosaur? Whatever it was, she pointed her buster at it, and fired thrice. Smoking, the creature fell. Ravenous, the pack of dogs leaped upon the dying lizard and noisily feasted, spreading its innards over the pavement as they fought and snapped for nourishing morsels. Upon realizing she'd stopped to stare in silent revulsion, she steeled herself and continued. Light was dear to them, to ( ... )

She fell, grasping the frayed edge of a metal grate with a cry of alarm. Below her, nothingness. Above her, the same. She pulled herself up onto the grating. The town had darkened, twisted. Dried blood browned the world, dark and pungent rust adding to the dank reddish-brown nightmare. Locket ran, ignoring the way patches of the ground seemed alive, squirming and chittering.
Crunch. Her boot flattened and crushed a very large, cockroach-like creature, the chitin giving way to spread black fluid. The screech of the insects filled her ears, and she ran faster ( ... )
