Friday, April 23, Bazaar towards the Bakery man_genius April 29 2010, 06:26:54 UTC
Genius was, for once actually out and about in the bazaar and not hiding in the cave he called a room or at work. The reason for this rare and strange occurrence was purely self motivated as he was only focused on hitting up one place today; the bakery. He was in desperate need of starches.

The Tribbles had vanished by the time he had woken up, leaving him with a sense of loss. He was probably one of the rare few in the sphere that had LIKED the rapidly multiplying creatures and he'd grown quickly attached to them. He'd hoped that maybe a few of them would stay when they inevitably disappeared like most random things in the sphere. But alas there was not a furball in sight.

So Genius was going to drown his sorrows in...cookies. Maybe some muffins and a brownie. He was walking with his head down through the crowds not watching where he was going.

As ridiculous as it may sound, Eternity found something as mundanely routine as grocery shopping (and then later, eating) both strange and unusual. But he ate just as often as anyone else; he'd hunt down giant creatures and prepared their meat in meals. Despite that, there was a disconnect like he shouldn't and didn't always eat routine meals like so. Didn't have to. And that seemed like such nonsense, though he didn't really think of it often. Today just seemed to be one of those days when something unusual like that would cross his mind.

The Bazaar was usually pretty crowded, and it wasn't unusual for people to bump into one another. Eternity never really paid it much mind and, in fact, liked to take advantage of those opportunities to see how people's various reactions. There were enough people who were weirded or creeped out by him; a lot of people would prefer to avoid him. From time to time, he'd find someone of interest.

So he let this guy crash into him ( ... )

There was a reason why Genius hated crowds. Crowds had people in them. People were jerks that stood between him and his unhealthy eating habits. Also--ow his shoulder!

Genius winced as he walked into a nice wall of muscle. He looked up--and then up some more. The first thing he noticed was white hair, just like Bell, only there was a lot more. Funny how the similarity hit him first because the stranger's eyes were nothing like Bell's. They were intense and focused as though the stranger was staring at him like he was some interesting specimen.

Not a great first impression surely. "I should. And yet there's plenty of room to walk around someone who is distracted, friend," Genius replied with a bit of false bravo.

There was something about this man's gaze. It was...kinda familiar.

Eternity's eyes focused with an intense but other-worldly gaze. They were liquid-green that seemed to glow in a faint way. He was probably studying the stranger as much as the stranger was studying him, but this wasn't a bother. Edensphere was filled with many different people, sometimes with unexpected abilities. One never knew exactly who held the keys of knowledge of whatever powers held residents captive in this world.

That, and Eternity was vaguely curious as to what the stranger thought. He noted the other wasn't entirely disturbed or intimidated and seemed even slightly intrigued about... something. Even if he didn't find out exactly what it was right now, Eternity figured he could bide his time. There were always random encounter opportunities in the future, after all.

"You make it sound like I walked into you on purpose," he replied with a small smirk. Then he stepped aside, allowing the other to pass while adding, "It isn't safe to be distracted when going through a crowded area."

Dyad closed his eyes after a moment, exhaling as he walked back along the path towards his home in Section 3. Things at work had calmed down as of late, especially with Innovator and 00's return to duty, and with the assistance of Haro, but he was still feeling worn. Perhaps Innovator had a point when he had suggested taking a few mental health days... But the idea of that bothered him. Was Innovator one of the people that knew about his previous insanity? But he couldn't see the man making such snide comments. For now he'd write it off as coincidence ( ... )

Eternity had dressed rather plainly for work and was carrying groceries he'd picked up on the way back home. He wasn't a particularly long way down the branch-path leading to the Section 2 housing when he heard someone call out.

--was that someone calling out to him? Eternity snorted quietly and continued. The only one who'd called (or written) him with such urgency was Paladin, and he was certain that wasn't his brother's voice. But when he heard the hurried footsteps closing in behind him, he couldn't help but wonder and quickly whipped around to see...

...he had no idea who this man was, so it probably was some kind of mistake. One which Eternity found somewhat amusing.

Managing to keep traces of amusement out of both expressions and voice, he asked, "... Is there something I can help you with?"

He fell short as the tall man turned around, all his illusions that perhaps it had been the woman of his dreams (No pun inte-- well, maybe a little,) dashed away. That nagging suspicion in the back of his mind had been right- the person was entirely too tall to be the woman. Not to mention this person was, apparently, a man.

Caught for a moment, he cleared his throat, fighting back the faint blush of surprise. "...I'm sorry," he shook his head. He couldn't exactly say "I thought you were the girl I think I love" now could he. Instead he settled on on the more. "I thought you were someone I might of known." His brows came together and he nodded as an apology. "It's difficult to locate people from back home with the amnesia.."

Yes, this had been a mistake... but he didn't want to just rudely leave the man. perhaps he could offer to assist in carrying something? or just be told to leave.

If he'd known the other man thought he was a woman, Eternity might've felt even more amused rather than offended, though that might've been because he was somewhat disconnected from many normal human reactions. Nevertheless, he found the current awkwardness hilarious but was expert at schooling his expression.

"I see--it's understandable. Sometimes there are similarities among what we find here and the vaguest hints of memories we have left. It's natural for one to seek these and determine whether it's what, or who, we're searching for." A pause as he looked away for a moment. "I... apologize that I'm not who you were looking for. If I knew what similarities there were among us, perhaps I could help you in your search..."

He trailed off since he didn't know the other man's name. Granted, it wasn't like he'd properly introduced himself, either.

Cloud had found himself somewhat at loose ends today. His supplies where fine so there was no reason to go to the Bazaar, Mustang hadn't scheduled him for anything today, the few people he knew and wouldn't have minded visiting were busy, and... well. He was kind of tired, and didn't really feel up do doing any exploration of Edensphere on his own today ( ... )

It was a relatively normal day. Bright, sunny--a good day to wander around aimlessly in hopes of uncovering new things. He could always hunt for things later at night anyway.

Sometimes it's as if a one could feel another person staring at them. He checks, and whoever was doing it quickly averts his gaze because it's not acceptable to stare. Similarly, Eternity felt like someone was looking at him. Perhaps staring, or maybe studying him from afar.

Finally he turned around and noted the lazy figure on the bench he'd been passing. He did a quick study of the man, but there wasn't anything particularly striking about him.

After a short pause, he eventually asked, "Can I help you with something?"

Cloud understood that many people thought staring was rude. But it was something that felt pretty familiar, in that strange, unexplainable way... so even though he hoped he would get used to weird hair colors, he was perfectly okay with ignoring that particular social rule.

He noted that the man had seemed disturbed by something even before he turned to look behind him. Had he sensed Cloud watching him? Very interesting indeed.

He placidly let the other man study him, leaning forward a little to rest one elbow on his knee and cup his chin in his hand. He took his cigarette out with the other hand, holding it as he exhaled a cloud of smoke. "Not really. I just noticed you passing by, that's all." He paused for a second. Talking with this guy would be a nice distraction from doing nothing. "Going anywhere in particular?"

By now, it was probably normal for people to study each other upon first meeting. The amnesia or memory loss had people constantly examining those presently with them, trying to comparing similarities between them and hints or traces of a world now forgotten. Of course, that wasn't the only reason--some did so because of blatant differences from whatever they instinctively felt was 'normal', or perhaps because they found the other interesting in some way.

In Eternity's case, he'd typically found something about the situation relatively amusing. Every so often, there'd be someone who'd strike him as vaguely interesting, and he'd at least like to remember what that person looked like in case he didn't catch the name.

"Not really," he replied. "Just doing a little exploration."

Eternity's presence didn't seem to bother the other man--not that he had a problem with situations like this. In fact, that made things even slightly interesting.

"And you--watching things in your free time?"

April 28, Bazaar and Access Point cathar_jedi April 29 2010, 17:15:58 UTC
Sylvar was threading her way from Captain Planet to the Access Point, walking through the less-crowded parts of the Bazaar. Right now, at a point when most people were having a midday meal, that meant moving among the more marginalized of the trinket-sellers, the ones who always lived on the edge of needing to close. All of them left impressions of their general state of being in the Force, and she glanced at each in passing ( ... )

Eternity mostly visited the Bazaar for groceries but dropped by the weapons stall often enough. Unfortunately, they didn't have the exact swords he was looking for, but he did settle for buying a few weapons he'd use in its stead for now. With that, he was heading back toward the access point to take the elevator and drop off the weapons stock at home when he noted someone who markedly stood out in the crowd. Just as he was examining her from afar (as he would anyone else), she turned into a nearby alley ( ... )

If she had been the sort to swear, even to herself, she would have. This was exactly what she didn't want. She'd been trapped in an elevator with someone she wanted to avoid once before, but Handmaiden had been there.

Sylvar didn't flush when he spoke - the capillaries in her skin worked right, but her pigmentation and hairs hid the redness. Heat did start radiating off of her, her heart rate picked up, and she had a sickening lurch in her stomach. She wasn't ready for this - wherever the thought came from she didn't know, but it was true.

Do not look at me, she thought, staring fixedly at his hair, the back of his head, and found her lips moving with the words, though she didn't say them. When he moved she quickly looked away, at the ceiling. There was what looked like a hatch on it, though a longer look showed that it was just a panel fixed to the ceiling and made to look like a hatch. She wished it wasn't, and looked to the side, then down at her gloved hands. He was there at the edges of her vision. She didn't blink ( ... )

"Hn. That's true. But--" As if called by the very thoughts to ward him away, Eternity turned to regard her. His seemingly-translucent green eyes glowed faintly, and his gaze was intense. It usually made others uncomfortable or easily unnerved them, even though he wasn't capable of piercing one's mind with them. "--it seemed like you were avoiding me."

He was civil enough and wasn't an immediate threat at present if only because of the memory loss. His anger, rage, and wrath were toward everyone, but extremely focused on one person. His target for now was Paladin, though this would only be temporary so long as Eternity couldn't remember who it really was. Not remembering, not knowing, and not having control--these were all things that diverted his attention from unleashing his hatred on everything.

"Of course, correct me if I'm mistaken," Eternity added as an afterthought.

April 28, Branches, Evening notpissedoff April 30 2010, 01:46:44 UTC
Rain was, for lack of a better term, brooding. He had found himself a secluded spot up in the branches of the tree, away from most of the homes, and was sitting slouched forward, one leg drawn up and his chin resting on his knee. His eyes were half-closed, his face devoid of expression, as he listened to the rustling of the leaves in the wind.

Recent events had given him plenty to brood about. The memory crystal had given him no clear answers about who he was, only more questions. Then there'd been those cryptic messages in the journal, and now the business with Simon. Rain had been warned that those who learned too much could be killed off, but this was the first time since his arrival here that it had actually happened, at least as far as he was aware. He hadn't known Simon outside of the first aid class, so he couldn't say he was terribly grieved, but it was troubling nonetheless. It was a clear reminder of just how subject they all were to this place's whims, and it was frustrating. He needed more information, but how ( ... )

Eternity was wandering through the higher branches of the tree, away from the residences. It wasn't uncommon for him to hunt squirrels and other rodents for food, fur, and anything else he found fit for use. Others rarely ventured to those parts, so it wouldn't cause any problems. Though the only reason he didn't want to do that was it would cause more problems for him than anyone else. Until he could find what he was searching for --find the truth, or obtain the greater powers of Edensphere-- he'd remain as low-key as possible ( ... )

Rain remained where he was, regarding the other closely as he approached. The first thing he noticed was that the man had silvery hair, although he didn't appear to be old. There was something about him though, other than that disconnect, that made Rain feel uneasy. He couldn't put his finger on it, exactly, but maybe it was in the way the man carried himself. Like he was someone powerful and important, or at least thought himself to be.

Rain's right hand moved another half-inch before he forcibly stilled it, scolding himself mentally. He had no good reason to draw a weapon, or even to feel threatened. The fact that he felt more secure with a kunai in his hand was not a good excuse to whip one out (or reveal that he had one, for that matter). Besides, with any luck, the stranger would simply continue on his way ( ... )

"Ah--my apologies." A very automatic response. His gaze left the other man, surveying the surrounding leaves and branches as a gentle, cool breeze swept by. After a short pause, he answered, "I come to these parts of the tree... to hunt."

It wasn't just his hunting ground, though; it was also part of his exploration. He didn't stop at just wandering the islands, the scavenger's yard, or the wilderness. One of the places he frequented most happened to be the various branches, away from the residences. With exploration came thoughts--questions that didn't always have answers. So hunting and exploring were both good for thinking.

Of course, just sitting around and thinking like this man was doing were also just as well. It was just different from Eternity's way of doing things.

Still carefully checking his surroundings, he added, "It's well away from the residences to prevent causing any harm... And it helps me think, as well."
