If Goose knows Arabic, he knows that "wali" is completely incorrect. He's just being racist. grinninggrifter March 21 2010, 23:28:19 UTC
Grift usually went down to the Bazaar before work, and enjoyed doing card tricks. People gave him change more often than not, but he didn't mind the pennies; he was in it for the attention, not for the funds. That meant he knew the place like the back of his hand, and the man sitting on a blanket was certainly not a regular.

He looked like an absolute idiot. On a bedsheet.

"Hello there, wali," he said, grinning. "Come to tell the frothing masses their fortunes, have you?"

I'm going out on a limb and saying he doesn't know Arabic whatsoever dolepathic March 21 2010, 23:52:45 UTC
"I have," Goose said, opening his eyes, but otherwise not moving a muscle. "Have you come here to see me?"

Grift chuckled lightly and rubbed his chin. He never heard of a psychic, a real psychic holding such a ridiculous pose. Still, if he still managed to be skeptical in a land such as this, something was going a little right for him at least.

"I haven't come to see you special, but I don't usually see men sitting on bedsheets. Blankets are more common fare." He shrugged. He could use a thrill here and there and indulge a fellow street performer. Besides, from his garb he appeared to be a newborn, and he always had the slightest bit of sympathy for the poor bastards.

"But since I'm here, I may as well take a gander. What can you tell me, mystic man?"

Goose smiled slightly at the pun Grift had made, presumably accidentally. Still, he was much too excited to wonder about it for long. This was the moment he had been getting ready for almost all day. He'd finally test out his powers.

"Well, give me a minute to clear my thoughts. I...haven't actually tried this since I woke up, so it might take a minute," he said as he rested his fingers to his temples and closed his eyes again.

And waited. And waited. And waited a bit longer. Why wasn't it working? Why couldn't he hear the voices? Goose furrowed his brow and concentrated harder, but it only gave him a slight headache. Was that one guy right? Maybe there weren't any spirits here in Edensphere.

"Uhh," he started, a nervous smile creeping across his face, "we might be having some technical difficulties. I don't think the spirits are too talkative right now."

Rogue walked through the Bazaar, in the general direction of a food cart ( ... )

"Hey, there," Goose called out to Rogue, his eyes closed shut. He had noticed that this guy didn't seem to be paying much attention to what was below him, so it was unlikely that he had noticed Goose's eyes open just moments before, studying him briefly.

When he thought he had the man's attention, he slowly opened his eyes and looked up at him.

"You like to fly, don't you?" Goose asked, a knowing smile on his lips.

High overhead, Zephyr banked out of the stretch of sky visible between awnings. Rogue then looked down with what almost seemed like reluctance and decided that he could spare a few minutes.

Settling back on his heels, he nodded, a bit of a wry smile coming to his lips. "'Like' is one way of putting it, sure. But I hadn't thought I was so transparent."

"No, not transparent at all. Everything I know comes from a little bit of this," Goose said, touching the tips of the fingers of his right hand to his temple.

Goose's journal entry had made Cloud very curious. While he had found himself curious about nearly everything in the Sphere from the way the journals worked to the minor puzzle of people 'born' with red rings around their ankles, this was more then that. The thought of someone being affected by spirits made something in the back of his mind itch with familiarity ( ... )

The closed eyes, at this point, were merely a ruse. He'd allow himself a few moments to study each person as they approached and then close his eyes as they came close enough to likely notice. Still, he was trying not to appear overly sneaky just in case someone came by that was observant enough to notice. That said, it wasn't long before he acknowledged the newcomer standing in front of him.

"Curious about the spirit world, are we?" he said, raising an eyebrow and opening his eyes slowly.

Cloud smiled a little. "It's why I came to see the demonstration for myself." He stood there for a moment longer, fingers rifling through his pants pockets... he made himself stop when he realized he wasn't sure what he was looking for.

Walking closer to where Goose was sitting, he sat down on the ground in a cross-legged position when he was sure he was out of the way of the Bazaar path. "The name's Cloud. So, you can hear the spirits talk to you, huh?"

"I can indeed, Cloud," Goose said, smiling a bit, making note of the fact that Cloud was sitting down in the same position he was. Mimicry like that could be an indication of a feeling of connection with the person being mimicked or an attempt to instill the same feeling in them. Or it could just be the natural way he sits down.

"What about you? What makes you interested in the spirit world?" Goose asked.

let's start a battle of the hyperobservant redhead_rabbit March 22 2010, 18:50:09 UTC
Rabbit had read the journals and found himself quite intrigued. A psychic, hmm? And while Rabbit hardly wanted his secrets to pour out, the thought of someone with that sort of power was incredibly alluring. How strong were his powers? What sort of information could he learn from just looking at a person? Or was this guy just a big crock. Well only one way to tell, the redhead had decided, was to go have a chat with this Goose guy.

Wearing his usual plain black shirt, tight white pants, and black boots, Rabbit set out with his backpack to the bazaar. He needed to buy some fruit so the visit was well on his way. He had heard some chatter about a so-called psychic and followed the rumors and sure enough, there was someone sitting in the same position as the doodle. The redhead approached suddenly, as per his usual greeting, though sneaking up on a psychic wouldn't be that easy. But he tried so anyway. Peering around the corner, Rabbit greeted him, "Yo, Mr. Psychic!"

[ they're similar in so many ways. i bet this'll be interesting :3 ]

Goose had decided to drop the whole closed eye routine, at least until he got in the swing of things. Most people wouldn't notice or think anything of being quickly scrutinized, especially when it happens in a matter of seconds. Besides, even if they did, it would be easy to attribute the sudden look of concentration to listening to the spirits.

Needless to say, with his red hair and notable outfit, the newcomer had not escaped being noticed.

"Yo yourself, Mr. Redhaired Guy. I take it you've come to see The Amazing Goose in action?"

Rabbit quickly observed Goose, noting his position, hair, outfit, and strange expression. He sure seemed full of himself. Now the question on Rabbit's mind was, of course, was this guy genuine or just crazy?

The redhead leaned against the wall, folding his arms across him, tucking his hands underneath his elbows, a broad, whimsical grin across his face. "Yeah, sure have. Whatcha got for me?"

This guy was...strange. It was almost like he was here to test Goose's abilities rather than see a psychic. Sure, the people he had encountered so far met him with varying degrees of scepticism, but this guy seemed different somehow. Still, a spectator/client was a spectator/client.

"Let's see," Goose said, adopting what was quickly becoming his familiar pose and looking the man over quickly. There weren't too many details readily apparent, but some scorch marks on the edges of the man's sleeves caught his eye, especially given the lack of scarring on his hands and wrists.

"Aaaahhh! I see...fire!" Goose yelled, quickly patting out invisible fires on his sleeves and arms. "On your hands! Wrists! Hot enough to burn, yet...you seem okay," he said as he slowly stopped patting down his sleeves and looked up at the man, a slight look of confusion on his face.

Boss was really excited. He was going to meet a psychic who could talk to spirits. In olden days, that was the closest anyone had to a shrink. So, in a way... He could help Boss- or anyone else who stopped by- with their problems, and with an olden air to it.

He was a little nervous to be seeing the psychic, and hoped he wasn't one that could read minds. But it was also exciting!

Boss made his way through the market, his eyes wondering. Maybe... he would have a stall, or... a really big sign. Maybe something glowing.

He was about to ask someone for directions when he noticed a man sitting on the ground, his arms and legs in a strange posture that just... radiated psychicness.

"Hey, are you him? Are you Goose?"

"I am indeed," Goose said, a smile forming on his lips as he looked up, although he otherwise didn't move. "You came to see me do my thing, yes?"

Boss grinned, turning off to the side at... Nothing, dammit. Why did he keep doing that?

His smile faded into an annoyed look for just a moment, before recovering and turning back to the amazing Psychic.

"I did! I did come... for that." He looked down around on the ground and sat down cross-legged. He gave a slightly 'Oom-ph' when he sat, showing in part how out of shape he was.

"Is there... something we need to do first? Do you need anything?"

Was this guy for real? He seemed so...excited to be here with a psychic.

"Actually, some water would be kind of nice. I'm a bit parched. I've only been here a few hours, but it already feels more like a week," Goose said, shooting the man a questioning look. He didn't really care if he got some water, but he was curious to see if this man would get it for him.

[ooc: Could I get you to post on the permission thread for Goose? I know Boss probably won't have a whole lot that stands out, but I'm sure we can work out something. I'm sure he won't be that hard to impress. =p]
