Oh, he didn't like the sound of that.

"Eyepatch?" He asked once more as he followed him back--and then, once the gun was up he lunged for him from behind--too late, there went one shot with the sound of a firecracker--one arm around his ribs and then over his shoulder to hold the non-armed...arm, and the other getting a grip on the forearm of Eyepatch's right arm, trying to get him to lower the gun before he could get off any more.

"What are you doing?" He demanded--Paladin'd heard about how Eyepatch reacted to certain restraints, but he'd had no idea it was this bad.

The sudden restraint had Eyepatch dropping the gun before he could fire off any more. "Wha?" At the same time, the bullet hit the bubble and ricocheted off at an angle. It came as shear luck that it only whizzed right passed them. Eyepatch yelped, his eye widening, momentarily distracted by that close call to complain about the interruption.

Once the split second of danger sense subsided and he felt like he could breathe, he wriggled his shoulders. When it came to physical strength alone, Eyepatch didn't have much to stand on. He turned his head to catch Paladin in the corner of his eye. "What are you doing? I'm trying to bust us out of here."

Paladin felt the bullet ricochet right past them as well, and had to tamp down the urge to hit Eyepatch--friend or no friend, he'd nearly gotten them killed, they were lucky it didn't ricochet into the clinic proper.

Even though it was obvious by now that Eyepatch couldn't really break free of his grip, Paladin didn't loosen it at all--in fact, he tightened it as he began trying to turn the other man around, back to the clinic. "I already told you, we've tried to get through it. I am keeping anyone else from getting hurt."

"Hey, hey, hey! Easy, easy! It's not like I was shooting at someone." His shoulders shook again, despite knowing better. Ultimately, the hold was a clever one, and Eyepatch had no choice but to head back to the building unless he wanted to deal with unnecessary strain. And he didn't.

That wouldn't stop his mouth though. "Well, you didn't technically say you tried shooting at it."

Shooting at it. Yes, his hand was empty, he realized. Suddenly, Eyepatch's struggles ceased, and he walked with ease. He loudly cleared his throat. "So, um. Can I get my gun back?"

"I didn't think I had to be so specific!" Paladin returned--because, really, who in their right mind would have tried shooting at that bubble all of a sudden? He noticed, too when Eyepatch calmed down--and there he went, asking for his gun back. He made--it wasn't quite a sigh, but a more pronounced exhale. "I'll return it to you. When you're inside." Even if he apparently lacked impulse control, he'd never heard that Eyepatch was a crazed gunman, and if he was, Rabbit wouldn't have been so close to him. Besides, given that apparently monsters could appear anywhere these days, depriving him of his weapon and any protection for a long time was something Paladin couldn't do.
