"Worry not, Rose; there's time to spare ere it begins."

He wasn't normally one to wake this early, but weary though he may have been he couldn't help but loosen up a bit in her presence... though his language would never really show it.

Well, relaxed or not, tired or not, he was still getting his hot.

"I'd sooner take my leave of the presses, besides, With the newcomers arriving in droves as they've been..."

"You're preaching to the choir. If it weren't for all the volunteers I get, I'd never get any of this birthday cake business done!" Rose said, sipping the last of her tea. A poppyseed muffin and thai tea... she would make this a regular thing, because she was feeling quite fabulous right about now. Fishing a few coins from her pocket to pay for their breakfast, she nodded to him.

"I'm always told I'll get fat if I drink things like this, but there's nothing wrong with a little milk in your tea, is there?" Before any protest is made, she happily paid for their breakfast.

"I completely forgot to grab my jacket on the way out the door this morning, and it's supposed to be really windy today. At least I keep the shop warm. ...Shall we be off?"

He minded her words, but declined to comment. But they'd only moved two steps out from the threshold before Reed had shrugged off his coat, tossing it across Rose's shoulders with a gingerly pat. "If naught else you'll stay warm for the walk. It's no short march to your work from here, after all."

And he sprung right into stride from that. Apparently, the thought of inclement weather didn't bother him one bit; then again, he'd seemed all the more stoic since he emerged from the elevator after so many days, if a little bit quieter to boot. With a few paces of distance between them, he glanced over a shoulder, bidding Rose catch his pace. "Come hither. Let's walk."

He was right, as her shop was still a ways away, but she had all the time in the world to open up shop. The girl rose smoothly and stepped outside with him, blinking her eyes quickly to adjust to the bright early sunshine, providing but a little warmth amid the crisp chill of autumn. Before she could think more on it, Rose felt a weight upon her shoulders, and a small pat, snapping her from her thoughts. Reed had given her his coat. Her face went a little pink as she smiled at him. "Oh! You're really sweet. Thank you!"

Ahh... and there it went again, that funny feeling in her stomach. As Reed moved ahead, Rose found herself falling behind in silence. She pulled the jacket around her, despite not feeling cold, and wondered if it was okay to like how someone smelled. Then again, she wasn't entirely human to begin with...

...oh. That's right... he didn't know yet, did he?

"Come hither. Let's walk.""Oops. Sorry! Coming!" She jogged a little to catch up, and easily met his pace. As they walked, a subtle, funny little feeling occurred ( ... )

His usual pace resumed once she'd fallen into stride beside him. He glanced up, scarcely batting a lash at the fruit and leaves of which she spoke. "...I cannot say; to mine eyes it's as fine a plant as any other."

Perhaps he should have drank that milk tea a bit more slowly; he was starting to stumble now and then, a bit of offcenteredness that slowly eased him further into Rose's path- oh dear, he actually bumped against her that time. He offered a hasty apology.

"I'm terribly sorry, Rose; something has set me off-balance..."
