These newborn clothes were driving him crazy. The fit was off, they held stains so easily, and they were white. White! Did a worse color exist for one who preferred the dark of night, who preferred the darkness overall? (The answer is no).

So this was how it came to pass that Tandava, coin purse in hand, walked into the tailoring shop--paused a moment to adjust to the...the gaiety inside--and then approached the counter and the small young woman waiting there.

"I need clothes," He said flatly.

Bubbles looked up with a mild frown. "You need manners," she retorted. "Really, who comes up and makes such a blanket demand?"

She waved her arm around the shop. "See this store? Has lots of clothes. That's what makes it a clothing store. Customized clothing. Very expensive." She eyed his newborn clothes and sighed. "There's a clothing stall further down, that's where people like you go."

And this was her in a good mood too.

Tandava's eye twitched for a moment--he considered letting her know exactly who she was dealing with, but decided against it. There did seem to be people hunting him, for some reason or another.

"Expensive?" He said, raising one eyebrow. "So?" Because, you see, Tandava got what he wanted, never mind the cost of things--he certainly didn't.

Oblivious to who he was and the danger he posed, Bubbles just tilted her head at him.

"You are a newborn aren't you? Newborns don't usually have jobs, let alone enough money to go custom straight outright. I can't just make things without payment--and no we don't do loans or IOUs. Tragic, but that is how life works around here."

She sighed. "Believe me I know the pain of those hideoteous newborn outfits, but what can you do? This is the world we live in."

"I have a job. It's not like I need the money for anything else," Tandava shrugged, and tossed her the purse, which contained all the newborn money plus his earnings so far--true to what he had said, he did not need to spend the money on anything else. "So make me something. Something in black." Further protests were not likely to get very far without either violence or an extended lecture on the principles of basic economics.
