He had to hold back the beginnings of a faint smile as he saw Red approach and begin practicing on his own. It showed that he had decent determination, not leaving immediately. It also gave Seraph a moment to watch his form, the way he wielded the blades while under the impression that he was alone. There was raw skill there... it would just take sharpening ( ... )

Seraph's voice, once again, came out of nowhere. Red was right in the middle of an attack when he heard it, and it made him fumble right out of that, the momentum of the swing taking him down to his knees. His cheeks turned pink as he looked to his right, where Seraph was walking towards him. When did he arrive?

Despite the humiliation, Red listened. He grew even more flustered over the fact that Seraph was pointing out more flaws instead of giving compliments. He had been alone, for goodness sake, it wasn't like he was giving it his all. Not really. At least he was "doing well ( ... )

"Stances and balance can win or lose a fight," he stated simply. "If you are out of balance, your opponent will take advantage of this."

As with all idioms, the figurative subjects have little to do with the intended message." After a moment he decided that trying to explain figures of speech would just distract the boy, and he shook his head. There was no need for it.

Right now, he wished to test Red's skill and see his general attack pattern- after all, all the good advice in the world was nothing if the user wasn't comfortable in it, and if they didn't make it their own. Bracing his shoulders in a defensive way, he spoke again.

"Your strikes should be precise and controlled. Come in to attack. I will be prepared."

"Oh..." Red dug his feet into the ground, trying to find a solid, yet comfortable position, and kept his swords ready at his sides. This stance seemed to strike a chord within him, and so he stayed that way.

His head tilted at Seraph's explanation. He had no idea what 'idioms' and 'figurative' was supposed to mean, but instead of asking, he simply nodded slowly. He could pick out other things so that the sentence made sense, and besides... It would probably be better to just smile and nod as if he knew what Seraph was talking about most of the time anyway. Unless he were just really curious.

Attacking Seraph... The moment of truth, then. Red rolled his shoulders and let out a deep breath, and then pointed one of his swords at Seraph. "Alright, here I come!"

With that announcement out of the way, Red launched from his place and quickly closed the distance between Seraph and himself, swords behind him to aid his trek. If there was one thing he learned in his time training to himself, it was that speed was definitely on his ( ... )
