He looked around to see if Fugue had arrived. How, he wondered, did he get won by someone who had already won so many others? It felt almost irritating. Still, he checked, knowing that he would try to be pleasant and charming. Then he stopped, realizing that he had no idea what Fugue looked like in the first place.

"Hello!" She beamed at Juliet. "I'm so glad you could make it! Oh. What a beautiful dress!" She was actually being sincere--Juliet looked amazing!

She did a small twirl of excitement. "This is the best night everr I just know it!" She laughed. "So, where's your date?"

He thought for a second. "I don't know. It's supposed to be someone named Fugue...I don't know him."
Reply
"Ah yes. Fugue. I hear there was a ...miscommunication during the charity auction with him. You see, Fugue was supposed to be my date for the evening, but well....someone decided to be an horrendible villain and put his name into the event!"
There was some swooning here as she put all her effort into her performance as a tragic victim.
"And you were played as well! Oh! Is there no end to the hurtful games people play!!! Such a cruel place it is, really. I feel so sorry for you."

That was his main quest for the evening: Find a cute girl, and if all goes well, bring her back to his place, maybe. What luck, that Jing just happened to run into two beautiful ladies shortly after his arrival. And they also seemed to be having date issues! Time for Jing to shine.
"Good afternoon," he greeted, cutting into their conversation with a polite bow. Jing did tend to be an idiot at times - well, most of the time - but he knew how to put on a suave act for the ladies. "I couldn't help but overhear some of your conversation. Why would anyone want to hurt such lovely ladies as yourselves~?"

He turned and looked the man over discreetly. Not bad to look at, and his first impression was one of civility. He smiled lightly. Never bad to have some fun.

"Sounds like you need a man who can show you a good time," he said with a grin. After a brief pause, he added, "I'm Jing, by the way."

Not wanting to seem too eager or desperate, he cleared his throat and took a quick moment to think of something good to say. He definitely did NOT want to mess this up. "You look even more beautiful than I imagined," he said with a smile.

In all honesty, Juliet was a flirt and flamboyant, but always was surprised when anyone complimented him. It was so nice when that happened.

Jing still didn't have the slightest clue that Juliet wasn't really a girl. Actually, the thought never even crossed his mind.

Juliet was thrilled. He would have gladly danced with almost anyone, whether they were male or female. Things like gender didn't stop attraction, he felt.
