Ace, in the meantime, was meandering around the Residential area trying to figure out his smudged map. It was difficult to tell where anything was... Flight pointed to where the Marketplace should be yesterday, but in comparison to everything else on the map, it was nowhere at all.

"Let's see..." Ace muttered to himself, turning the map this way and that, "That line there vaguely looks like a tree branch... Maybe that large smudge is the tree itself? But where was the Hatchery on the tree?"

As Bastet suggested, Ace had to acquire a new map at the Hatchery, and possibly a change of clothes, if they had any to offer. But that's the irony of the situation; he needed his map to find the Hatchery to get a new map. Wouldn't that just be his luck? "Damnit, why is this so difficult?!" he asked to no one in particular.

The sound of someone apparently talking to himself--crying out in distress to himself--attracted Cara's attention, and she headed over to find a man with brown hair with a map in his hands. She didn't recognize him; he was probably new here then, and maybe one of the people she'd met on the journal but not in person.

"Hi there!" she said with a friendly smile. "Need some help finding somewhere?"

Ace looked up when he heard the voice, and was pleased to see that a cute girl was smiling happilly at him. Immediately he striaghtened himself up, smoothed out his hair, and gave her the handsomest of smiles (or at least what he believed was to be so!). Even in a t-shirt and jeans his charisma would shine through, right?

"Actually yes, I do," Ace said to the girl as he tucked his map away in his jeans pocket, "But it can wait. What's someone like you doing out all by herself this late, hm?" Ah good, charming, exactly what he was going for! He smiled smugly to himself after his self-praise.

Oh. Um. Cara felt her face going red at the man's immediate transformation from lost newbie into some sort of would-be Casanova. It might have been charming if it hadn't been condescending (she was carrying a spear, thank-you) and if it hadn't been followed by that clearly self-satisfied smile.

"I--" She stopped. Wait a second. "Are you Ace?" she said.
