Leaving had almost never been harder for her. Ba'ast hadn't felt so torn since she'd left her family behind to live the life of a pirate with this crew-- the crew she came to cherish and love as her own, the crew she would give her life for in a millisecond. She had hesitated back then, back when this life was just at the end of her fingertips. She had hesitated, and she had chosen. The family she'd loved, she left for strangers at the time ( ... )

As Aidan approached Ba'ast, he strummed Aine lightly and sung softly under his breath. It was just something quick he'd written to calm his nerves and pass the time.

"It's an adventure for the ages,
an adventure for the books!
A band of motley pirates
travelling to look
at the world across the tree
at the world that lies beyond -"

Aidan's cheery song was cut off suddenly as he realised that he TOTALLY couldn't remember the words. At all. And that was really just sad because he had just written this song and it was totally pointless if he couldn't remember the stupid lyrics. Aidan's skills were rusty. He frowned as he realised how rusty they were.

Last thing he had - um. Better not to think about it. Put on a cheery face, that was all he had to do. Pretend like he was happy to be undead. Didn't matter, he hadn't been able to find Avery. Aidan shook his head.

"Let's hope that they have fun?" A small pause and then a roll of his eyes, "That was lame. I really am rusty."

Ba'ast raised her head as she heard the familiar lute strumming, and she listened with mild amusement. Lame, indeed. "Aidan," she acknowledged with a nod, her ears rising from their previous position pressed back against her head. "I don't think I've heard anything so lame." Though, she wasn't one to talk. Despite her own bardic background, she'd hardly touched an instrument since arriving-- let alone sung more than a few quiet tunes. She had refined her dancing and managed to work more than a little magic into her storytelling, but she was in no position to insult Aidan's creative flow.

"We should work on that," she said. "And you're not the only rustbucket 'round these parts." Her ears drooped, but her gaze remained stern, and she refastened the ties on her bag.
