Blunt much, Note? forceofjustice November 23 2008, 20:48:56 UTC
Note wasn't exactly full of excitement, where he was. In fact, the days had very boring, very slow and full of absolutely nothing to do. He wasn't complaining-- for some reason, at times, it felt relaxing-- but he was a being of action. He needed to do things. He needed to have a mission or a task to do, or he wasn't happy.

Vegas, he had discovered, was not full of tasks and missions. More like drinking and gambling.

With a sigh, he walked out of the Excalibur, intent on exploring the area again; perhaps something else of interest had popped up since he'd last been out. He wasn't expecting much, so he was surprised when, coming to a stop at one of the streetlights, he saw a little girl. She looked something like nine years old, and yet, the way she was walking...

Intrigued, Note took a few steps over to where she was, and leaned forward, completely disregarding personal space, and the fact that she was a stranger. For a moment, he stayed that way, and then he asked:

"... How old are you?"

Oh, hello there, human being. Very nosy human being. Data stopped when the boy came up to inspect her, didn't lean back in the least when he leaned forward. She got the smallest feeling of deja vu, which she tucked away in her mind. In any case, it wasn't enough for her to feel familiar with this other boy. "...Yes?" she asked patiently.

How old are you?

...Well, that was certainly a random question. As it was, though, he was the first human being she had seen in awhile, so she figured she may as well comply. "I arrived in Edensphere just yesterday. I am not aware of my true age as of yet," came her monotone voice. She tilted her head slightly at the curious boy. "Why ask?"

An answer that was unsuitable. He wondered if that would be a running trend, honestly, as he'd gotten a few answers that were mostly useless. He figured that this answer wasn't the girl's fault, but it was still irritating, anyway. He pursed his lips, and then answered slowly:

"Because you do not walk the way someone of your age should." He brought a thumb to his lips this time, and chewed very slightly at the edge of the skin there. "It merely interested me, that is all."

A pause, then:

"I am Note. And you?"

That didn't happen. <3 extsviet_shelke November 27 2008, 05:39:48 UTC
She raised her eyebrow at this answer. Because you do not walk the way someone of your age should? What was he talking about? Real age? Edensphere age? Either way, she didn't know how someone 'her age' would walk anyway. Why did it matter anyway? But then, perhaps it did in Edensphere. How little she knew of this world. Then he commented on how it just interested him. Shelke's nose twitched slightly, not understanding, but not considering it important enough to ask.

"I am Data," she said, her voice almost sounding twice as robotic with that phrase. It wouldn't be surprising if Note thought she was in fact a robot. There was very little to give away her state as a human being.

Note was not exactly sure why he had stopped the girl. He just knew that she was interesting, was something to relieve the horrible, horrible boredom. Something for him to study. Chewing his thumb still, he frowned at the girl, staring her over. She was not natural, but then again, perhaps she was? What did he know of this place? Perhaps girls like her were dime a dozen, here.

Note raised an eyebrow. "Hello, Data. What are you doing here?"

It was more a question of curiosity than anything productive. Her robotic reply had only reinforced his theories.
