I have my computer back. *dances* All my files are okay, and I now have an external hard drive on which to back them up periodically, so if anything goes completely kerflooey again, I should at least be able to work on my stories on other computers ( Read more... )

You're writing for a movie that people who are currently on LJ have both seen and loved. I was a bit surprised (after Googling) to find out that, apparently, no one in the world has posted Sling Blade fic prior to mine. Anywhere. At least not in English.

Yeah, there is that benefit to writing Inception fic... though I am not, you will note, writing Arthur/Eames, which is by far the dominant expression of the fandom. (Frankly, I prefer Ariadne/Arthur/Eames, Ariadne/Arthur, or strictly gen team!fic, but that's another post for another day.)

I wanted to write Mysterious Skin fic, mostly just to be contrary -- it was less directly related to my prompt quote, and is a much less "known" canon source -- but alas, that failed to work out.

What is Sling Blade about? I am interested in reading your story, but I have NO knowledge of the movie beyond that, I think, Billy Bob Thornton may have been in it?

Sling Blade is the story of Karl, a mentally challenged man who has spent 25 years in the criminal ward of a state mental hospital in Arkansas for killing his mother and her lover -- when he was about 12 years old. Eventually he is deemed "cured" and released. He goes back to his home town, gets a job fixing small machines, meets some people... and things progress from there. You can find plenty of reviews via Google.

Interesting. I will read up about the movie and then look at your story once I have a frame of reference for it. :-)
