I was going to write Sakura fighting Kabuto and pulling off his trick of healing herself mid-battle, which is something that would happen in my vague and shapeless idea of the proper sequel to Tides (...technically the second proper sequel to "Tides," since my old outline got adjusted to take canon revelations about Itachi into account and now ends

I love the casual teasing between them, and how it's a way to communicate that things aren't so bad and they'll get out of here fine.

She'll kill Sasuke herself if that happens. He asked her to before they left Konoha, and she agreed. (They haven't told Naruto about that plan.)

OH and also I love how Sakura wants to take care of Kabuto herself. medic-nins really are scary in combat and he's an adversary worthy of her! Mostly in how she can't win if she doesn't match his twisted-mindedness and his misuse and corruption of things, which is very shiny. *__*

I seriously need to go hunt down all chapters in which Kabuto appears, because he fascinates me and creeps me the hell out simultaneously. And I want to see Sakura pwn his ass, which means I need to figure out how to write him. :-D

Sakura's grudge against Kabuto comes from way back in "Tides" -- chapter 3 or 4, I think -- where I did a little playing around with healer's oaths and how that might relate to the idea of medic-nin.

Mocking is a perfectly valid response to boys being unnecessarily overprotective of girls. :-D

I am not completely sure how and when Sasuke reached the conclusion that he'd rather be dead than possessed -- I suspect it happened during his house arrest in "Sparks" -- but obviously he'd ask Sakura rather than Naruto, because Naruto would let Orochimaru waltz around in Sasuke's body for years while obsessively searching for a way to counteract the possession. Sakura is a bit less likely to insist that there's always a way to beat the world into playing fair, and accept that they might be living in a tragedy rather than a shonen adventure. *wry*

All medicines are poisons. I hate it when people assume the healers are weak at heart-- they have the skills to hurt you bad. All healing is a controlled harm.

Also, healers are fighting death all the time. That takes a huge amount of emotional fortitude.
