[Meme] 10 first lines (and/or WIP excerpts)

Jul 16, 2008 21:55

I gacked this from ladylisse (and then tweaked it a fair bit). The idea is to post the first lines from ten of your recent or in-progress stories. I decided (since I won't have anything ready to post in the near future), that I might throw up some slightly longer excerpts. Fanfiction only.

Yay! And I am working on them -- mostly "Secrets" at the moment, though posting these snippets has just (finally) sparked a wonderfully fun idea for this year's femgenficathon story (which will doubtless induce me to also work on the related snippet).

Augh, me too, me too! So curious. *flails*

That Telemain and Morwen interaction cracked me up. And of all the Transient and Eternal, I liked Fluffy Things best, but lots of them too. X3 Secrets=> oww, Ginny. ;_;

Of all my incomplete "Transient and Eternal" pieces, "Fluffy things" is probably the closest to being finished -- I just need to figure out how to wind it down to a funny last line or two. The others... I know where they're going (except "Snowfall," which keeps zigging every time I expect it to zag and which I have therefore given up trying to predict, and "If it wasn't you..." for which I have destination in mind but am unsure of the map), but I need to slog through plot sections and/or research to get there.

As for Telemain and Morwen, well, I've never yet satisfactorily caught the breezy, whimsical tone that Patricia C. Wrede uses in the Enchanted Forest Chronicles. So I keep trying. :-)
