I have sleep apnea. That's where you stop breathing every once in a while while sleeping. I got tested, and evidently woke up a truly amazing number of times every hour. When I was having asthma/anxiety issues this summer, I discovered that I have a habit of holding my breath while concentrating on things at work. Which was REALLY not helpful behavior when I already was having fight-or-flight impulses all the time as it was. I now do make a point to take deep breaths as often as I remember, and it probably wouldn't hurt for me to put a note on my monitor to remind me as well.
