Ready? Has Jason ever been 'ready' for anything like this? He had failed miserably with Lisa's parents and now he had the sneaking suspicion that he was breaking out in hives. He could feel his skin prickling, his heart beat racing and oh yes, he was perspiring like he had just exited a sweat lodge. Jason swallowed, the action sounding suspiciously cartoonish and he looked at Eddie and granted him; what he hoped; would be a reassuring smile.
Jason wished he anyone but himself; anyone that Eddie's grandparents would approve of that is. Squaring his shoulders Jason wiped a hand across his forehead and nodded. "Yeah."

Eddie grinned. Jason looked like he was trying to look calm and assured and was really a nervous wreck inside. Trying to reassure Jason, at least a little even though Jason probably wasn't going to relax until the introductions were over at least, Eddie leaned across the car to look at him seriously. "You'll be fine."
He led Jason around the side of the house and in a fly screen door, down a hall and into the kitchen. Where, as he'd guessed, his Ma was reading the local paper. Some things didn't change.
"Eddie!" She dropped the paper and came bustling over, wiping her hands on her shirt. They hugged, quick, short and kind of uncomfortably, and Eddie dropped a kiss on her cheek. "One of these days you'll learn to call before you show up in my kitchen."
"Sorry, Ma." Eddie gave her a unapologetic grin and then stepped back to introduce Jason. "This is Jason, a friend of mine. Jason, this is my Grandma Molly."

Jason's first instinct was to embrace her, but he knew protocal in the Boone household was not the traditional 'Mom, this is my boyfriend say hi'. After all, Eddie's parents didn't know; mates was all this couple would be and Jason had to tap down his enthusiasm at meeting them.
"Molly." Jason reached out a hand to her. "S'a pleasure t'meet you. Y-Eddie's told me a bit about you. I have a feeling your cooking is going to go straight t'me middle."

Eddie smiled as Jason met his grandmother. It was strange, like seeing her for the first time. She looked old. He'd never seen her as being old before. She still looked wirey though, like she'd live forever.
"Your grandfather won't be back for an hour or so, at least. You may as well set up the guest bedroom for Jason here." That was about as far as their greetings went. His ma shooed them out of the kitchen then and Eddie led Jason up the stairs. They creaked and sounded like they'd give way any second. Everything here was getting old, apparently.
Eddie turned around to see how Jason was doing. "That wasn't so bad, was it?"
