mine is pathetic because i don't seem to have the energy/time to dig up new stuff, so besides still regularly listening to the newest meshuggah album and mastodon, this was my last playlist. i'm not sure what's wrong with me that all i feel like listening to is mostly either metal or singer-songwritery roots music.

I feel the same way sometimes, and then there's chunks of time where I accumulate so much shit that I don't even listen to all it. Like the talkdemonic album that the song I listed is from. I acquired that probably three years ago, and am just now really listening to it.
I don't know if you're already a fan, but judging from that list, Baroness would fit the bill. Also, the album "One Hand For The Knife, One Hand For The Throat" by Tangaroa is a new discovery of mine that totally destroys. They're kind of like a cross between the song structure of Meshuggah, the unpredictability of older Genghis Tron, and the math-y skillz of Don Caballero or something. It's pretty intense, and I can't sit through the entire album most of the time, but man they rule.
