Okay, I've never used photoshop before. Now, that I can see what you can do with it, I want to learn. Can you be self-taught, or should you go take a course in this???

you can be self-taught... I was for the first several versions of the program but then I got a grant and took a bunch of digital imaging classes.

If you want to be self-taught to start out, try Photoshop Elements 3.0. It has a lot of the regular photoshop tools and popups with each tool that tell how to use each. I think it costs about $100.

But, if you have the inclination, sign up for a class and then buy the 'educational' version (same exact program except for not being able to access some of the tutorials on the CDs). If you are a student or educator or work in education, you can buy that version for ~ $130. instead of ~$750.

good deal for students huh?
