The Devil sent me a message

Pardon me, sir, but that's a beautiful baby you have; can I interest you in exploiting her for $$$money$$$?"

Truth is, I started my daddy blog with at least half an eye on the idea of, somehow, earning some income through it. Hence the Ko-Fi link below most of the articles, though so far, that has netted me precisely zero coffees; between that and ( Read more... )

Personally, I don't think I would feel super comfortable with the idea. My dog? Sure. My kid? Ehhhh. But then again, I have the (relative) financial privilege that I don't need to consider it that hard. You do what you gotta do under a capitalist society, right?

Well, that's the thing, isn't it? We certainly don't need to. Raven is a civil servant and we live very frugally (no car - though every so often we think of that - and we seldom eat out, etc), so she earns enough that I will be able to stay home with Baobao when she goes back to work. (That I am able to stay home now is one of those silver linings adages tell us are always hanging around: thanks, Covid19!)

My dog? Sure. My kid? Ehhhh.

The counter-argument, of course, is that all babies more or less look alike for the first few years; my current intention is to shut down Papa Zesser when she turns five or so, so that I don't abuse her privacy once (or even before) that starts to matter to her.

This is very true, actually!

I have taken the approach to sharing some stuff on Facebook because it allows me to reach my far-flung extended family across the world, but I keep my profile locked down and I try to consider if it is something they will find embarrassing later on - e.g. recently, in wanting to proudly exclaim about Phoenix's potty-training successes, I was careful not to get too graphic about it, LOL.

Holy moly! Potty training success already!?! (Or have I so lost track of time that Pheonix is older than I think? Not-quite-two years?) Gives me cause for optimism, at any rate. (Not, somewhat to my surprise, that I mind the diaper changing, except when she refuses to stay still!)
