Definite ego-boo

Peter Watts, arguably the best hard science fiction writer in the game today, thinks my analysis of the recent G20 imbroglio "makes a scary kind of sense" and quotes me fairly extensively to explain why he does.

I don't know that I should admit to being more pleased by this recognition than I was when I received a cheque from the Globe and Mail Read more... )

And to think I nearly didn't quote you! Fortunately, my better sense came to the rescue and figured if you weren't willing to be quoted you wouldn't have made that post public.

Awesome, congrats.

BTW, any reasoning you're using dreamwidth?

Thanks, it's definitely fun ed_rex July 5 2010, 23:56:24 UTC
As for Dreamwidth, LJ went through some drama a while back and Dreamwidth seemed like a good back-up plan.

Now it just seems like a more sympatico place - fully open-source, I think being run as a non-profit (though I could be wrong about that; it's been a while since I read the FAQ) and committed to free speech and other good things.

My intention is to gradually transfer over, but we'll see how things work out; LJ certainly has a critical mass that Dreamwidth lacks at the moment.

Coolio!

Your quote/reasoning sounds much more scary and plausible than anything I originally wrote in my post on the subject.

'Coolio' indeed ed_rex July 7 2010, 17:18:45 UTC
You forgot to mention 'depressing'. Mind you, I know how easy (because it makes the solution seem so) it is to look for a single person to pin a problem on. God knows, when Obama was elected I left my critical faculties at the door for months before I started to come awake to the systemic nature of the U.S. imperium again.
