[Phoenix clears his throat, then addresses the comm politely.]

My name is Phoenix, and I would like to speak to the one known as Leonardo in regards to a matter that is best discussed in person. Are you amenable to meeting with me at some point in time this day?

what do you do with a drunken pirate, corrupting and terrible influence, etiquette etiquette, take you down any way i can, #leonardo

[Oh yes, he knows who you are now.] Fine.

[What. Mike went to Raph? Why in the world would Michelangelo go to Raphael instead of him?

Because you would've torn into him immediately.

There's probably a lot of emotions that flit across Leonardo's face before he schools his expression into something more deadpan.] Better than a stranger, at least.

[Phoenix nods in agreement.]

Yes. And Raphael would be especially ideal, all things considered. He would know what he's talking about and would be able to tailor his advice to fit Michelangelo's needs. Your family is lucky to have one such as him.

You don't need to tell me that.

[Phoenix takes the opportunity provided by the lull in the conversation to open one of the bottles of sake, pouring a glass half full. Something about Leonardo's response is telling. Perhaps it's the shortness, or perhaps it's the almost argumentative way in which the turtle agreed with Phoenix. Whatever it is, it's easy to tell that he's really close to striking a nerve.

Hmm. Let's see if we can go in for the kill.]

Still, it's a pity you won't try a glass yourself. Ah well. Whatever questions Michelangelo might have, I'm sure Raphael can field them.

[That's quite enough.

The corners Leonardo's mouth turns down into a defiant frown and he flicks his glass toward Phoenix. Nobody is going to tell him that he can't help his brothers, even if it's true.]

[Phoenix is careful not to let his smile become too wide or too full of teeth. He tilts his head in acknowledgment, then fills Leonard's glass - half full, same as his own, then he sets the bottle down in the middle.

He picks the glass up with his free hand and holds it out to Leo.]

To knowledge, then, and the ability to assist when it's needed.

[He lifts his glass in the sign of a toast.

Cheers~]

[Cheers, you smug bastard. Leo's at least not stupid enough to try and taste whatever he's drinking.

A moment later he's struggling not to cough and gripping his glass as he hangs his head. Oh God that tastes like awful. Nothing like it should. It should be awesome and great because it's from Japan but it tastes as shitty as alcohol should and he's not sure if he can stomach another one.]

[Phoenix's expression only flickers a little when the sake hits his tongue. It isn't what he's used to nor is it what he prefers. After a moment of consideration, though, he shrugs it off and takes another drink. He's had worse. Much, much worse. And he's doing this for a good cause.

It's difficult not to smile at Leonard's reaction, though, and amusement dances in his eyes.]

You really haven't ever drunk before.

[Your lack of experience, it shows.]

Probably because it's illegal, [Leo grinds out, his voice rough. In an act of pure defiance, however, he straightens and pours himself more sake.

...though considerably less this time. Last time it was so much that he couldn't drink it all without tasting some of it.]

And you've never broken the law before?

[Phoenix's tone is neutral, more curious than anything else. Another sip. He's pacing himself - as well as setting an example if Leonardo cares to observe. You don't just toss your liquor down the hatch unless you're trying to get drunk really fast.]

That's none of your business either. [If he's setting an example, Leo's not getting it. He's figuring that so long as he doesn't drink so much, he won't get drunk. Besides, this stuff is foul, he doesn't want to taste it.

Yeah. Little tiny gulps here and there. Totally won't get drunk off of just that.]

[In other words, yes, yes he has. Interesting.]

In my experience, laws sometimes must be bent or bypassed for the greater good, and yes, sometimes broken outright.

[Not a question this time, but he's still observing Leonardo, trying to judge how he reacts to that statement. The turtle's face is structured very differently from his own, but he's starting to get a feel for reading the other's expressions.]

Underage drinking isn't what I'd call the "greater good." [He's a stubborn little thing...but he did take that second gulp of sake. Hypocrite.

Helping his brother is considered the greater good okay.]

[Phoenix drinks a little more sake.]

Mmm, perhaps. It all depends on the reason.

[Are you going to say you don't have a good reason for this, Leonardo?]

[He has no reason other than his ego, so he's going to change the subject.]

What about yours? Any particular reason you decided to get my little brother drunk?
