I find it interesting to note that there is no real wind to be felt on deck one.

[As Phoenix is speaking, there is a buzz in the background, sometimes louder, sometimes all but inaudible.]

An occasional breeze, yes, but like the weather in general, it continues to remain calm and pleasant - and useless, if one wanted to harness its power.

[Well. That's not awkward.]

I believe you're referring to Veld.

Veld?

[An odd name for a woman, but then, the boat picks up people from all sorts of worlds. Perhaps it isn't so odd where she's from.]

Her formal name, I assume?

His.

[It's a simple correction, like there's nothing strange about this at all.]

[Silence from Phoenix's end.

Then a soft laugh.]

Isn't that ironic. It appears the misconception went both ways.

[Alice does so like the openness of the upper decks, it's a lot like being on one of her fathers old ships and it brings back a slew of memories from when she was a bit younger and her father still alive.

The noise is a bit of a distraction and a draw at the same time - Alice's curiosity overpowers rational thought at times, but this person she does at least know. Last time she'd approached someone she'd willingly linked arms with a zombie and searched for hours for a red haired boy that sounded suspiciously like Hamish.]

Whatever is that noise, it sounds as though it could be a bee but you know - that is a bit bigger than your average sized bee and I've never before seen the large bees that actually reside here on this boat leave their current deck, so surely it isn't one of them.

[Phoenix glances at Alice, lifting in eyebrow, then allows the corner of his mouth to twitch with amusement. Innocently adjusting the controls to bring the toy plane flying closer, he pretends not to see it coming.]

Have you ever seen an airplane before?

[Her eyes widen, airplane? What in the world could he be talking about? Hot air balloons yes, but 'airplanes'? Alice is confused.]

Oh, do be careful - I rather think you're going to - watch out!

[At the last moment, Phoenix flicks the controls again. The plane angles up, then directly over their heads - perhaps a little closer than he had intended, but still, well enough to avoid clipping his ears.]

Hmm? Oh. I see you have seen one.

[Yes, he's teasing her now.]

To fly, of course.

Unfortunately, there isn't even enough wind to fly a kite, let alone anything larger. Not without the assistance of another power source.

[The airplane buzzes in the background, emphasizing his point.]

The simplest way would be with a hang glider, though even with sufficient wind, there are limitations on this ship that would make it difficult. Anything more complex than that, I would need someone with mechanical skills.

[He knows basic airship maintenance, but that does not mean he can construct one himself.]

This is Velly... or Veld?

One in the same, Veld normally. Phoenix, correct?

[Phoenix is going to assume that either Vincent told Veld, or Veld recognized his user ID.]

Yes. We spoke a few days ago, if you recall - though neither of us were exactly as we are now.

[That last part is said with a wry inflection. Veld will know what he's referring to.]
