She sat down on the couch. "Uh, Merlot? You know Father best, maybe you should... I don't know, drop him some hints every now and then. To remind him of his past. And maybe... maybe he'll snap out of it."

The strange feeling grew worse. It was suddenly knowing what was wrong and right - that what she'd felt the past few days was terribly wrong, and that being with these people felt right because it was where she belonged. There were still a lot of things she'd have to piece together, as her memories seemed to have been shattered and all jumbled up, but things were beginning to make sense, at least. Little by little.
She looked at her daughters. No, their daughters. And then she turned to Aligoté finally. "H-Hey," she said softly, her expression indicating that yes, she remembered him. Maybe not everything about him, but she remembered.
