Lina was out prowling. She was, after all, outdoorsy by nature, and she was glad that the weather was warming up enough that it would be pleasant to be outside again soon. She was dimly considering the idea of finding someone to spar with, just to help her burn off some energy, when she noticed a young man sitting and reading a book. She grinned a little as a spirit of mischief seized her, and she crept up soundlessly behind him.

"Whatcha readin'?" she asked, unecessarily loudly and directly into his ear.

It had been a while since Ling had been snuck up on like that, so he did, admittedly, jump a little bit. Not from the shock that someone was there, but from the sudden louder-than-expected noise.

He turned toward the person now standing behind him and smiled. "It's called 'Caring for Your Orchid Garden'. I recently it recently as a gift, so I figured I'd look it over."

"Oh. Sounds fascinating," she said, with a slight trace of sarcasm. She couldn't see the fun in sticking a bunch of seeds in the ground and hoping they'd come up eventually. "Whatever floats your boat, I guess!"

"Well, I don't get half of what they're talking about," Ling replied, "but the parts that I do get are kind of interesting, in a way."

And he liked looking at the pictures too.
