Summary: Follow-up thread in which Jing is kept company by his partner(s), interrupted by a friend/enemy, and gets a few life lessons.

The nap had helped his headache a little, which meant that he could think without it being accompanied by the feeling that his skull was splitting open. But his dreams had been old dreams; of a cold so piercing even breathing felt like fire, muted voices arguing next to the fireside, a sharp crack of palm meeting cheek. It had made his sleep restless, tossing and turning in a way he didn't so often anymore since it tended to squash his partner, habitually sleeping nearby. And when he opened his eyes upon waking, it took him a moment to remember that the dreams were memories.
Fingers splayed searchingly, an undercurrent of distress increasing a heartbeat just marginally.
