When: After these conversations with (AU) Quatre and let's say after this thread.
Summary: Ed has volunteered to fix the clinic’s west wing and is supposed to check in with the Master Chief before he does any repairs.
Warnings: None. Well, maybe a few random swears.

Drawing a sharp intake of breath and automatically dropping into a fighting stance, Ed very nearly came out of his skin at those words. He hadn't noticed anyone approaching while he was looking over the building.

"The hell you think you're doing sneaking up on people like that?!" Ed demanded as he straightened up.

It took him a second to realize he was standing face to broad armored chest. Tipping his head back to look up and then tipping back a little bit more he could see the man's helmet. The guy stood at least as tall as his brother Al, but Ed doubted he was soul-bound to that armor. That meant the man inside had to be huge, he surmised with no small amount of envy.

Ed shook off his initial agitation and managed a grin. "Uh, yeah. I'm Edward Elric. And you must be John."

Ed lifted his eyebrows a bit at John's question. "How long?" he repeated. Did this guy actually want him to quantify the time it would take to fix the clinic? It was next to nothing, really. Ed thought about the situation a moment. Perhaps Quatre didn't say how he was going to fix the building, or maybe the soldier wasn't familiar with alchemy.

Grinning broadly, Ed replied, "Lucky for you, Big Guy, I'm an alchemist. I'll have this done..." he paused a second. No. Not in a snap. Never a snap. "In a clap. Once I get a good idea what the place looked like before, that is. I'll want to walk around the building before I do anything."
