Characters: OU!Duo, OU!Wufei Where: the commons, the basketball court When: Late afternoon, February 6 Summary: Wufei and Duo get together for some recreational therapy. Warnings: N/A
"You tripped me," Duo said. He got up, wincing a bit at the scrapes he now had on his hands and knees. Luckily, he was wearing jeans, so it wasn't too bad. He wasn't going to admit he was out of practice. This damn place was frickin' depressing enough to the point where he just didn't want to sometimes.
He walked over and swatted the ball from Wufei's hands, catching it in his own.
That was both an excuse and a lie. Wufei's eyes narrowed, but he did not call Duo on it; not yet. The other man was too sensitive regarding the way that others perceived his honesty and integrity. If this had been their own world -- if that had been the case, Wufei doubted they would have been in this position at all. This was a different Duo, just as it seemed he was a different Wufei. Though this Duo had seemed as sensitive on the topic as he was at home.
He had requested that the other pilot join him in training and then this game of basketball so that he could try to speak to him -- a conversation that Wufei hoped would have better consequences than his last attempt at helping someone had.
He watched Duo take the ball in silence, a slight frown creasing his features. "You wish to continue?"
"Of course I do," Duo said, giving Wufei a smirk. It wasn't like he'd really hurt himself or anything. "What's up?" he then asked, catching the frown. Sure, Wufei frowned a lot, but he knew a real one when he saw it. "Something's bothering you." He stood there, the ball tucked under an arm as he studied the other pilot. After the initial shock of how different Wufei looked, Duo had slipped back into his usual comfort zone. He generally tried to avoid strife anyway.
"You have not been yourself recently," Wufei replied with a one-sided shrug. "Which is not unusual for people here -- but it has been going on for quite a while in your own case." He leaned his head to the side, studying Duo in an obvious manner. "You know I did not trip you."
