The sound of a soft voice calling out the name "Brother" pulled Edward from his thoughts and stopped him in his tracks. He spun around expectantly and was shocked at what he saw, or rather, didn't see.
There was no seven-foot suit of armor. Ed glanced over the plaza a second time to make sure he didn't miss something. No, there was no armor. There was, however, a heavily banged up teenage girl, and she was looking right at him.
"Uh, I'm sorry," he began. "I think you have me confused with someone else."

So this is what the other Al had told her about. He wasn't 'her' brother. She stood there for a few moments before making up her mind.
"Welcome to Econtra, Brother. I'm Al, just...not the one you know. I was told by another Al that he was once a suit of armor...I guess that's who you were expecting to see."
She took a deep breath for a moment. "You eventually get used to this kind of thing. It just...takes a while."

"M'not getting used to anything," he muttered defiantly. Ed cupped his chin in his left hand and studied the Al, the Alter-Girl-Al standing patiently before him. It was eerie, overwhelmingly so, how much Alter-Al resembled his brother from the color and sweep of their hair to the curve of their noses. But mostly it was her eyes that he saw his brother. The thought that this is the closest he'd come in years to seeing his brother's face hit Ed like a punch to the stomach.
Then Edward registered that the girl's right arm was automail - and broken. Ed frowned at this. What the hell was she thinking running around in her condition. That was the kind of dumbass thing he'd do, not Al.
"Right arm is automail," he commented slowly. "I'm going to guess your left leg is too. You were never soul bound ( ... )

They were a lot alike now. They were both looking for suits of armor that weren't here. She walked over and sat down at the edge of the fountain. Johan had told her not to go out and that she needed to rest, but she was stubborn and had insisted on going out. The Keepers had left by now and it was a bit safer.
"I was told that Lt. Hawkeye, Colonel Mustang, Major Hughes have been here as well. At least, that's what Ling told me," she said, looking over at him.
"And you are right. I was never bound to a suit of armor. I arrived in this place missing my arm because of Scar. Someone was able to help me get another, but it was broken by someone else in a fight. With everything that happened recently I haven't been able to get it fixed again."
(OOC: sorry. Needed to fix. X.x)
