The slayer exited the bathroom, her hair up in a towel, another one wrapped around her. She managed to sneak in a quick shower after she'd put Harth down for his nap. Her bare feet slapped against the floor as she stepped out onto the hardwood floors. "Harth! How'd you get out of your crib?" Melaka asked, holding one palm flat against where one corner of the towel folded in, keeping it there.

"You're supposed to be sleeping, little man," Mel said, arching an eyebrow at him.

Harth was half way into a crying fit before he noticed Melaka standing there in the towel, soaking wet. He clamored over to her and wrapped his little arms around her legs, still almost whining, seeking the comfort only his twin could offer.

As much trouble as Harth had caused, he was damn adorable as a baby. "Awww, I wasn't gone for long," Mel said in a soothing tone, reaching down and prying his arms from her legs before pulling him up to rest him on her hip, his head near her shoulder. "Did you have a bad dream?" Mel asked softly, bouncing him gently as she headed into the kitchen to get him something to drink.

He looked at her, before squealing and pressing his face into the nook of her neck, incidentally where he had once bit her, but now he was just murmuring and snuffling.

Wufei did not normally go snooping around apartments that were not his own. He had only rarely entered the dwellings of those he considered his friends and allies thus far during his stay in Neocontra, and was at a bit of a loss as to how to react to inhabitants of the compound that he was unfamiliar with ( ... )

Melaka had been sitting on the floor of her room with Harth, trying to roll a little ball she'd gotten for Gun back and forth. At the knock, Gun's metallic ears perked up and he barked, starting for the door. "Ruttin' hell," Mel muttered to herself as she handed Harth the ball then climbed to her feet.

Mel exited her room, followed soon after by Gun, who was wondering who was at the door. She closed the door to her room, leaving it cracked before she crossed the living room to the front door, opening it to reveal a young man she'd never met. "Yeah?"

The sound of a dog barking was almost as startling that of the infant, earlier. Wufei looked at the woman, sizing her up for a long moment. She was older than himself by several years, he judged. She wasn't familiar.

"I heard there was an opening for a babysitter," he replied with a slight smirk, the simple joke leaving him easily, still caught in his earlier humorous mood from his interactions with Maxwell.

The Slayer's eyebrow arched at his smirk and she closed the door a fraction, glancing off to the side for a moment. "Nope. No need," She replied curtly. She swallowed hard. No one could know that Harth had been babified. If any of his enemies found out...he was so screwed.

Paj-Epta had never been a noisy place, to be sure, so when there was a new sound it certainly stuck out. And in the seemingly empty space that had been left by the departure of one of his roommates, the unfamiliar sound seemed to echo that much louder.

What was most striking of all, however, was that the sound was so decidedly infantile in its pitch -- as though a baby was present in their apartment, had somehow been dragged into the warzone by the Consulo.

When his curiosity reached a pitch, Johan set down his book of philosophy on the unoccupied bed he had taken to sitting on. Then, after checking time out of a barely acknowledged habit, he walked over to the door and walked into the main room, knowing that that was where the 'child' had to be.

Harth was busying himself with the daunting task pestering the robot dog, who easily tolerated the small child's antics, at least until the dog saw the stuffed bear under the toddler's arm. The Stark built hound wagged it's tail, dropping down on on it's forelegs in a play position before grabbing the bear in it's teeth. Harth gasped and yelped for it, tugging back, and Gun let go, sending the little one tumbling backwards into one of the pillows from the couch that had been pulled to the floor.

Now, not that it hurt all that much, it actually hurt very little, but Harth's little baby comprehension did not see it that way. He wailed.

Upon seeing the mini-epic unfolding before him, Johan had an urge to laugh. He was not one who was often with children, and had not seen one in a long time, or dealt with one for even longer. His laugh, however, was stifled both by a hand and the sudden outburst that had him flinching. Crying was one thing, wailing quite another. For now, rather than finding the party responsible for the child, Johan decided he had better stop the crying.

Out of his element, he took a few tentative steps towards Harth, both mindful of the strange mechanical canine and the almost unbelievable sounds emanating from the tiny human. After a moment he came even closer and sat on his haunches. “Hey, kid,” he began in an awkward effort to appeal to sense that was definitely not there, “it's all right. Your bear is right here.” And, not sure what else to do, Johan nudged the stuffed animal closer to the baby.

Harth stopped suddenly, eyes looking up at the older boy and he pulled away. After all, wailing in such a way, crying as he was, he wanted comfort, unfortunately, the one offering such things was the wrong person. He saw the bear though and he cautiously took it back, hugging it, and while he saw Johan there, still watching him, he pressed his face into the back of the bear's head.

Mel heard the familiar voice call her name and she took several steps back from the kitchen. Ned had disappeared and the slayer was trying her hand at that key lime pie he made so well. "Hey, Q...what's up?" She asked, glancing over and seeing Harth in front of the couch, babbling softly to his teddy bear, shrieking excitedly occasionally.

Damn, babies were loud.

The slayers's eyes squeezed shut when Harth squealed happily. A small grunt escaped her and she nodded slowly. "Yes. But it ain't what you think," Mel said, opening the door a little wider and pulling Quatre inside, closing the door after him.
