Duo took little pride in his ultimate decision, which was to climb up top to the bunk bed, climb under the covers and attempt to ignore Wufei. It was because of his promise made to Mel that he didn't want to talk to his friends, of course, it meant lying, and that was the last thing he wanted to do.

He lay down on his bed, covered only in two throw pillows as he favored the blistering, bandaged burns. spread on his chest and shoulders.

"Yeah, well.. It's not a very pretty thing either.." Duo was hardly inclined to show Wufei, after all, that would mean he'd have to remove his shirt, and in this case, fabric friction was a bad idea.

"I ain't goin to the clinic, if that's what you're thinkin.."

"Given the attitude some of the other people here currently hold towards our group, I hardly expect you to, even if it would be good for you." That was part of why Wufei had offered his assistance.

He offered only a half smirk, eyes weary, but it was sincere, at least. "Well.. thanks. Good to know someone cares enough to know I don't want to be cared for."

"And a pity that you still won't be able to avoid it, as soon as one of the Winners catches wind of your condition?" Wufei asked, smirking. "Or shall my assistance consist of protecting you from their concerned affection?"

Where they really that bad? He shrugged and lay back, considering the proposal. "I'd actually appreciate that."

Wufei was a trifle surprised that Duo accepted his joking offer. But he'd extended it,and now that he had, he would not retract it. "You might regret that later."

"Okay," Duo said, smiling a bit. "Do me a favor though.." He adjusted himself, "Can you get me some sleepin pills.. or something?"

Wufei frowned at the request, the first truly negative expression that had crossed his face since he'd arrived in the room. "Are you sure that sedatives are a wise idea?"

"Dude.. I haven't slept since like.. two days ago.. So.. yes.. I think sedatives are a good idea.." Duo quickly replied as he pulled the comforter over him. "Drivin me nuts."

"It is difficult to heal when your body is unable to rest," Wufei said with a nod, reaching into an inner pocket of his jacket and retrieving his PDA. It took him only a few moments to place the requisition.

"I promise that I will keep you safe from all intruding blond busybodies who are too concerned for their own good while you rest," he said with an eyebrow quirked upwards, amusement in the ghost of a smile that played across his face.
